This movie is said to be a “mind-changer” in regard to Sarah, so maybe it will change mine.

Too late to change anything in THE ROGUE, but on my publicity tour I can always recant
my past sins, should I become a true believer.

UPDATE: Oh, wow, here’s a preview:

Am I really going to have to sit through this alone?  Dinner’s on me after the show for the first four people who also buy tix for that 5 p.m. screening and let me know.

I can you meet you here:

  • Libby:

    Say it ain’t so…oh, I just can’t do it.

  • ManxMamma:

Hmmm. Doubt it will change anything except that she remains ‘Defeated’. Are you really going?

  • MissSunshine:

After this film bludgeons your eyeballs with corpses, atomic explosions, arrows, collapsing overpasses, etc. I’m sure you will realize the goodness and virtue of Sarah Palin, and how wretched and evil everyone else is.

    Well, maybe…

  • Nefer:

Will she have hired security goons to stop you from going in?

  • ManxMamma:

    lol

  • Anonymous1253:

I think you’ve been robbed — $10 for a discounted Senior ticket ?! Do you have your tin-foil hat and ear plugs?

  • Olivia:

    Dear Joe,

I hope you will be live blogging the movie!

  • lynn:

Will you be forwarding an advanced copy of your book to Sarah? I hope not, I think you should catch her off guard and let her pay, as you did for her movie.

  • ToesInTheSand:

Thank you Joe for taking one for the team. I am forever in your debt…..;)

  • Susan P:

Joe, you couldn’t get the early bird special or senior discount for $6.25? I hope you can write this off as an expense. 🙂

  • Inquiring Minds:

You always seemed like someone willing to look at all sides. Parts of the film are interesting. Parts are incredibly dry and boring. The beginning is intense and heartbreaking, regardless of who it’s about. The home videos are adorable though. I’d be interested in seeing the finished product and the directors cut. Bannon says the dvd willbe more intense and wont hold back language etc.

You probably could write this off though 🙂 Happy viewing and friend making. Hopefully you’re not alone in the theatre.

  • Deb:

    Joe,
Please make sure you post a message after the movie to let us know you are still alive and well.

We’ll all be concerned knowing the schedule and you might want to provide your access codes for someone to post a message on the blog — just in case the movie sends you over the edge!! You never know, you might laugh so hard, you’ll require medical treatment!!

  • Oh Joe:

Are you being sarcastic with the ‘it looks great’ comment? lol

Wouldn’t it be amazing if Sarah were in PHX around then and happened to attend that screening?

I can see it now. WW3. Cmon Southwesterns, give our friend some love and see the film. It’s not THAT boring. It’s interesting to see who’s on what side (meaning who participated in this)

  • Satori:

I sure would if I were there! In a heartbeat. That would be fun.

Joe, I think maybe you missed one of the best places in the world, with some of the nicest people. And funniest.

Watch this little gem first, to put things in context and proper perspective.
Lemme tell ya how it really is…
    http://youtu.be/hsW2itXX4C4

  • Joe:

    Me? Sarcastic? Never.

    –Joe

  • Satori:

Be sure to turn your sound on and crank that volume. Nice jazz riff written by local boys.

  • ella:

Is anyone taking odds on Joe being BANNED from entering the theater? They proclaim that they want people who are NOT fans to see it. On the other hand, they have BANNED someone who is not a supporter.
If I was near Phoenix, I would surely go with Joe – and I would buy HIM dinner.

“I’ve Been Banned from Sarah Palin Documentary”
    http://tinyurl.com/3tnne2j

The Queen does not allow dissenters. Her bony fingers are probably already on the blackberry, demanding the theater throw out Joe, as “he is trying to hurt my children!”

  • Olivia:

I have this picture in my head of you sitting there laughing loudly, nearly uncontrollably, as the epic unfolds.

  • Betsycaz:

Really, Joe? I would love to meet you and gladly buy you dinner! I’m local here in AZ,and I would consider it a great pleasure. Let me know if you’re serious because two hours watching the “Unpalatable” would only be acceptable with high caliber company.

  • Joe:

I’m serious. The whole Kindle Single thing is still dependent on outcome of negotiation between my agent and my publisher and Amazon early next week, but I think it’s a go. I’d love the company of the first four people who respond and we can figure out who picks up the check later.

    –Joe

  • Betsycaz:

Count me in! Do you require evidence of advance ticket purchase? And have you ever tried Pizzeria Bianco? James Beard award winner Chris Bianco works the pizza oven himself, and he’s from the Bronx, so no worries.

  • diz:

$arah likes to distance herself from the production of this propaganda piece but neglects to ‘explain’ how Bannon was able to obtain something so personal and unpublished as her childhood home videos and photos.

  • Sarah HalfTime:

    JOE!,
Bring your own popcorn, drinks, etc…
Personal safety is a must around The Quitter.

And yeah, you should probably post something here ASAP after the showing. Just so we know your alive.

By the way, saw you on TV when a Sowah’s Alaska replay occured. Your face was blurred out, but yeah, Sowah can’t keep her mouth shut about who you are in the reality show. And thats about all i’ve seen with the Worst Govenor Ever’s reality show.

Remember Joe, SAFETY FIRST when in the company of Palinbots.

  • Joe:

    It’s a public venue and I’ve bought a ticket, so I don’t think that’s a concern.

    –Joe

  • Joe:

    Betsycaz:

You’re in. Your word is good enough for me, but please buy a ticket online asap for 5 p.m. showing
so we have no hassles at the door. And the pizza place sounds perfect. I grew up on just-north-of-Bronx pizza.

    –Joe

  • newmeximan:

I’m thinking that by the third day, the theaters will be empty. Sometimes it’s fun to watch a movie all by yourself. Especially if you laugh at the whole thing.

    I know I would.

  • Lisabeth:

Are you honestly coming to Phoenix? I live here!! I don’t know if I can stomach the movie though!!

  • Betsycaz:

Done. Let me know if you need a ride…

  • DKey:

Hey, Joe and Betsycaz. Can’t be in AZ, but will be with you in solidarity! I’ll get my husband to throw some fresh Ahi on the Barbie and we’ll watch the part of Clockwork Orange where Alex’s eyes are clamped open. That should about replicate watching The Undefeated! Can’t wait for the report.

  • Ottoline:

Joe — Do you know about the photo described in this article?

    http://www.politicususa.com/en/palin-johnson-computer-hacked

  • Lisabeth:

I will come if you don’t have four yet! I can’t pass this opportunity up. Let me know and I’ll buy my ticket and meet you all there. I will be the one carrying a huge bottle of Pepto Bismol. Just kidding!

  • KarenJ:

“Dinner’s on me after the show for the first four people…”

I wouldn’t bother buying popcorn, Joe. You may not even have an appetite AFTER the “movie”.

  • Priscilla:

Hey Joe…I’ll be at the bar!!!!

  • Joe:

Okay, Lisabeth, that makes two. Bring the Pepto in case you don’t like the pizza.
See you in front of the theater at 4:30 p.m. next Friday.

    –Joe

  • Joe:

I have talked to Mercede Johnston at length about this.

    –Joe

  • CougInPortland:

I hope not, Joe. Just read Malia’s latest entry, as I’m sure you have. Be safe.

    http://malialitman.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/uninvited-to-the-undefeated/

  • Lisabeth:

I will be there. How do we all find each other. Do you look like the photo on your blog?Do you have a Red Sox baseball hat or Valley Trash Wasilla T shirt? I better go read Malias post. I highly doubt Sarah will be there. There are 4 showings.
It’s hot as H here as you know.

  • Joe:

I read Malia’s latest. Difference is NY Post critic had been invited to a private screening, so they had the right to disinvite him, even though doing so was so stupid. (Stupid? Palin? What else is new?) I have purchased a ticket online and have a confirmation number for a seat in a public venue. The Palin people do not have control over who goes to see the movie once it’s being shown in AMC theaters. As for personal safety, I always knock on wood, but I survived a summer living next door to Sarah and I don’t think attending a movie is a risk…although I am aware that it’s Arizona.

Seriously, the folks who come with me and I should all have a grand time, followed by what I’m told is the best NY-style pizza in the southwest. And I look forward to a cordial exchange of views with any and all Palin supporters who attend.

    –Joe

  • Ottoline:

Oh good. So glad to hear that. Can’t wait. Thanks for answering, Joe.

  • CougInPortland:

I look forward to your recap! Thank you for replying.

  • Betsycaz:

And sometimes it rains dirt, but otherwise, it’s beautiful!

  • hockeynana:

I am very worried about you all. You have told her flying monkeys too many details..where you will meet and where you will eat afterwards. The thoughts of that Menard (spelling?) guy and the OB nurse, and that sweet little Tucson girl come to mind. Sarah, Todd, and the idiots who are their family and “friends” are dangerous people. Seriously dangerous. If you notice any violin cases or white sheets…run!

I also worry that you will all have to spend a lot of money being deprogrammed after the movie…like they have lots of subliminal messages and you will come out of the theater and sign your homes over to SarahPac.

In the words of some cartoon character…”be afwaid, be very afwaid!” (damn, now I will have that phrase stuck in my head until I do a goggle to figure out who said it. Somehow I think it is Elmer Fudd, but have to verify that).

  • curiouser:

I frequently visit Scottsdale but don’t think I can be there on the 15th. It sounds like a grand party is in the works and I’m appropriately jealous. For those who are able to attend, fortification with adult beverages is advised prior to the 5 PM show time.

  • DKey:

Ha! New drinking game, Priscilla — you have to take a shot of Patron everytime Sarah blames somebody for something. Nah! There isn’t enough Patron on the planet . . .

  • Psalm023:

Don’t forget to bring the Maalox, and assorted anti-nausea remedies, also a helmet for those head-banging moments.

  • EatMoreFish:

Oh my, this is shaping up to be quite a spectacle! We can hardly wait for the posts and pictures!

  • Skagway Girl:

    Joe:
Love all your books. You turned me into a “crime”reader from the get-go. OK, you & Truman Capote!

Would love to be in Phoenix to share this event w/ you, but alas, I live in Juneau, AK and that isn’t going to happen. Wish I could make it so, as I could buy the beer to go w/ the pizza! And yes, those “rill” Alaskans certainly do not care for the half-twit quitter governor and her family.

    Cheers! Skagway Girl

  • search4more:

    Interesting.

Did you try and talk to the tech guy talked about in the article too? …Just for confirmation. I can believe that Palin would act that way and the campaign would be very nervous of stuff coming out. The “12” guys the tech guy had look at the computer including someone from Washington detail of the story sounded like it may be an exaggeration to me. If the computer was wiped, then there would be nothing to examine. It’s true that data recovery can happen for deleted files because they can be hard to delete. If your a professional though, my understanding is, you just write over the parts of the hard disk the files were on several times using some special software till nothing is left. If they did that and then basically reinstalled Windows or just deleted her account, i don’t think there would be a lot left to spend days looking at.

I’m no technical expert though so maybe I’m wrong.

Presumably the names of the 2 women that stayed with her would be known to her. She wouldn’t just let 2 random people stay. What legal basis would they have for doing that?

  • KatzKids:

    Of course not. 😀

  • One point of BS those “Outside” have missed, regarding the gubernatorial race in 2006: for the GOP nomination, it wasn’t at all a matter of beating out the incumbent Frank Murkowski as he was already dead meat (you should forgive the expression) due to the oft-flighted ethics scandals; it was a matter of rising to the top of the field of eager challengers… which was admittedly something of an accomplishment, as was defeating semi-popular former Governor Tony Knowles in the general election. But the notion she was responsible for unseating old Murkie? No. His only chance at that point would eventuate if the challengers had cancelled one another out.

  • Lisabeth:

Betsy, it will be fun to meet you. Today I saw this bumper sticker: “Palin 2012: You Betcha!” and I knew the driver! Couldn’t believe it. I had to keep my mouth shut. And yes, I’m still cleaning up dirt.

  • Me:

    Joe,

Reservations for Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix (reputed to be the best in the U.S.) are extremely tough — usually must be made 2 months in advance. It may be time to play the “famous author” card.

And for God’s sake, it is Arizona, land of the lawless. If it were me, I would hire some ex-military as bodyguards (or ex-Mossad), but that’s just me. I’m paranoid.

  • mb:

Phoenix, AZ in July to watch a Sarah Palin biopic.

Exactly which circle of Hell is that?

  • Bandit:

    Joe.u hv email…can u meet for drinks b4movie?

  • Bretta:

Wow! If I could leave Alaska right now I would totally join you – what an invitation!
(I’m the primary caregiver for my quadriplegic mother – it’s not money, I have airline miles and $11 for the ticket but dinner with you, priceless.)

  • Bretta:

He’s just a H8r & jealous because she’s skinnier and prettier than him and making thingys with her trademark and writing books and speeches you betcha also too. Plus she has executive experience community organizing and hocking grisly mamma combat soldiers.

Watch the Dead Fish Go with the Flow!

  • Bretta:

    Post of the Night.
    Thanks for the laughs, hockeynana!

  • JayKen Knotstirred:

My 80 yr. old parents moved to Ahwatukee, AZ 4 years ago.
Every visit, I see the Best of The Best of The Tea Party on full display.
Bumper stickers, T-shirts, Don’t Tread On Me Flags, etc.
Ahwatukee, is a retirement community. Mostly white folks, over 65.
If this “movie” can’t sell out here…
Stick A Fork in Her, (or surveyors marks) She’s Done!

  • Lolzcat:

I don’t think she’d care about you viewing the film. Didn’t they say this was for critics?

  • Lolzcat:

Are you effing serious? You just equated her fans to a psychopathic shooter and an accidental plane crash?

    They are not DANGEROUS.

  • carollt:

You certainly threw down the gauntlet Joe. The Queen being the Queen is probably fuming at your ticket purchase. You know she wants to react, but will she is the question.

I did watch the trailer. It’s too bad the woman the film describes is a fiction.

  • dmoreno:

    Hey Ottoline,

I tried several times to link to your link and it takes me there but the article does not seem to be listed. Then I typed in Mercede Johnston and got the article, but when I clicked “read more” it takes me to a different page. Has it since been taken down, or am I doing something wrong?

  • CougInPortland:

O/T: Joe, I saw this in comments concerning an opinion piece on the Casey Anthony verdict:

“While not exactly on the level of Truman Capote, Ann Rule or Joe McGinniss, Mr. Lohr’s ‘dark cloud’ metaphor account leaves beyond doubt he believes Casey Anthony is guilty…..”

That’s some good company you’re in!

  • sharon:

oh great! thanks a lot! Now that phrase is stuck in MY head…..love it!

  • Mattie:

make sure you do a head count so we know the uninflated number of people attending.

  • sharon:

Hey Joe, I suggest you scream at appropriate times during the “movie”. Like with horror movies – people scream out things like; “DON’T OPEN THE DOOR”!! or “ARGGHHHHHHHH” or “RUN SARAH, RUN”!!!!

  • Sally:

I think this may yet become a cult film. If they can have sing-alongs at the “Sound of Music,” we could have groan-alongs at “The UNdefeated.” If I were sure that the newly trademarked Sarah would not get a cut, I’d promote it. But if she sees one red cent from this film, let it die a quick death.

  • VictoriaJ:

Thank you. Anyone who thinks Sarah has never been a part of this vanity piece is delusional.
I suppose Bannon just . . . . had her family photos and movies?

  • Ottoline:

Yes, I see that the link now flips over to something else. Thanks for noting that, dmoreno. No time now to find the right one — perhaps someone else can post it.

  • JJ:

    Joe,

Oh, how I wish I could join you at the theater!

When you call yourself a “Trignostic,” do you mean that:
    a) you are on the fence on whether SP birthed Trig
    b) you do not think that SP birthed Trig, but you don’t know where Trig came from
    c) something else?

Have you seen Mercede’s photo of a pregnant BP, non-pregnant SP?

I can’t wait to read your book!!

  • curious:

It has all the essential ingredients to give Rocky Horror a run for it’s money.

  • GhostbusterTX:

I’ve never before had any desire to be in Phoenix in the middle of summer – y’all have fun!

Also, too – any chance of you doing a signing at Bookpeople here in Austin, Joe?

  • Lynne:

My favorite bumper sticker (I saw it the other day at the grocery store) was Palin/Beck…Lipstick & Dipstick. It doesn’t get any better than that!

  • Lynne:

Hmm, you must not know much about the Alaska “militia” around the Wasilla area.

  • Ottoline:

I just looked again: the article I linked to originally began like this: “In the world of Sarah Palin, accusations are confessions and should always be taken thusly. Palin’s outrage over the email hacker was simply . . . ” I can’t find it anymore. Joe, that link worked when you responded, right? It worked for me when I checked it yesterday. Seems to have been taken down.

  • Dicer:

Looking out for Joe…..have you checked to see if your cell was hacked whilst in Wasilla?? (murdoch’s misdeeds)

You will be the warrior in that room……to boldly go where no TRUTH has gone before.

Please give us actual numbers in the room, as Palin has a penchant for parachuting into big crowds to look important.

  • BanditBasheert:

WHERE is Ahwatukee are they living? We are a bedroom community – many of the areas gated and backing into beautiful wildlife preserves. Most areas are upscale, our schools are new, we have all the modern conveniences (including indoor plumbing).

We are very normal – lots of wildlife – everyone has pets.

Ahwatukee has several retirement areas but we are by no means a retirement community. We are a relatively young and up-and-coming yuppie community often referred to as the largest cul-de-sac in the world.

And people in AZ are very very friendly. Ahwatukee24 is located in a very nice mall area next to the I-10 and a huge Barnes and Noble (yes we even can READ).

You don’t need to be insulting – especially when you haven’t lived here. We are much politer than people in many other cities.

  • grace creek:

GhostbusterTX – Yes! my favorite bookstore, even though I moved away from Austin five years ago (after graduating from UT and working at the American-Statesman for 15 years!)

Joe, I’ll make that drive from Dallas and see you there.

  • Molly:

The article appears to be gone. I linked to it yesterday on Laura Novak’s blog and I can’t access it today. Strange?

  • jcinco:

I think he copies her style in dressing also too…

  • Flying Pig Ranch:

The trailer reminds me of one of those 1950’s government propaganda films. You could prepare for your event by watching one of those old “Duck & Cover” reels and follow up with “Reefer Madness.”

    Y’All have fun….

  • jcinco:

When I click on that link it takes me to an article about “Top sarah palin posts” I don’t see a picture nor anything about scrubbing computers….

  • grammy97:

Hockeynana, you did a good, funny articulation of my own concerns. Since I’m one of those old-type Christians who actually believe that the supernatural God answers prayer, I’m praying already for these courageous people. Joe McGinniss’ summer on Lake Lucille was a complete puzzle to me: and this expedition sounds like more of the admirable same. GO, neat people! Gotcha covered in prayer.

  • jcinco:

    Not scrubbing” , “hacked” anyway it’s gone…

  • KarenJ:

YES! Joe, Betsycaz, Lisabeth, TAKE PICTURES! And LiveTweet on Twitter if you can get away with it…

(surely they won’t be frisking folks who enter the theater?)

  • lisabeth60:

I can try to twitter live with my iphone. I’ll see how crowded it is! I have a camera of course in the phone and will do what I can. If you want to follow me, it is lisabeth60 just like my handle here. And no it is not my real name!

  • Janice:

It would be well worth the price of an airline ticket from Tulsa to Phonix to attend a “movie” and have dinner with you Joe, however the 15th is unfortunately one of two days a month I absolutely cannot be off work, so I shall simply mope all day long that day knowing what I am missing. I know you will be posting a very entertaining review and I shall look forward to that and perhaps munch on a peanut butter sandwich while reading it. Love your work (currently reading “Fatal Vision”) and eagerly looking forward to September!!

  • Carrie:

I will hopefully be able to finalize my travel plans this weekend, Joe. From Chicago to Phoenix for dinner and a movie sounds like the best Friday EVER! I will be bringing my bestie with me as well.

  • lisabeth60:

Bandit, Can you make it to the movie? I was hoping you would RSVP………

I get sick of people blasting Arizona. I have lived in the midwest, on the east coast and in the northwest. Every place has good and bad. I live in central Scottsdale. It was culture shock after living in Boston for so long to move here, but it does have advantages believe it or not. It seems more conservative now then when I moved here, or maybe people are just more polarized. There are a lot of Democrats and liberals too, in the urban areas.

I am really looking forward to meeting you Joe and any fellow Palin “followers.” I just bought my ticket and lets meet right inside the front entrance at 4:30……..How does that sound? It is almost too hot to wait outside
I have never been to that restaurant and I have always wanted to go. Maybe it will be easier in summer months?

    .

  • Kimberly:

Hey Joe check this out!!! When Palin was gov errr I mean CEO of Alaska, Alaska was the least ranked state for business. Hahahahaha. That is some selling point, she was the worst CEO in the nation 🙂

“In the world of Sarah Palin, accusations are confessions and should always be taken thusly.”

click on cached and you will see google’s copy of the page – you might want to save it now if you think you’d ever like to refer to it again

  • jcinco:

It would be great if Joe could come cruising in with an entourage of 20-30 “not real Americans” to all sit together and view the film. To chortle out loud at the bs and scream “you lie” at any misrepresentation of the truth. Also wanted to mention that I used Molly’s link that she posted over at Laura Novack’s blog for the strange disappearing Sarah Jones’ article from Politicususa regarding hacking and the photo of a very pregnant bristle and very unpregnant sarah prior to Trig’s birth. The link worked. Great article and comments.

  • Joe:

Still looks like a spot open. Of course, more than 4 can come: I can only buy dinner for four.

I’ll clarify on Sunday: in NYC til then without full computer services.

    –Joe

  • Bretta:

Great! I will join you and enjoy!

My friends at the Anchorage Times, lo those many years ago, with all the opinions about the first edition of “Going to Extremes,” will be so greeeeeen.

  • Beka:

Joe, just shoot me an email when you identify which four will be your guests, okay? Thanks!

  • Joe:

Will do, but might not be until Monday.

    Joe

  • KarenJ:

I just “followed” you, Lisabeth. Start flexing those flying thumbs!

  • Tom:

palin is a psychopath, what makes you think some of her most loonie followers arent capable of violence?

the fact is palin incites them to violence or maybe you forget the gun scoped crosshairs she used to target people with?

maybe you havnt seen the house she grew up where that bat-shit crazy old man made into a shrine of death.

besides YOUR anger is so evident it jumps off the screen………………….

  • Dicer:

Have the apres party with Joe and the 4……don’t give money to Palin….Bannon has to make back his million,if that is what it cost. Please! Please no money,no power to these people.

  • DKey:

    Joe,

I really appreciate the intelligent comments on this blog and wish I could join all of you in Phoenix. Hope to hear many reports of the night! And if your book tour brings you to Maui, the “Pink Floyds” and dinner at Mama’s Fish House are on me!

  • themom:

Oh Carrie….you are living the life I want …at least next week! May you have the best time with Joe and company. Gosh I am wishing I were you!

  • themom:

After watching the trailer it is obvious that this is no documentary! However, it just may be a MOCKumentary since it seems to be a complete mockery of who, what, where, when, and how she came to be.

  • KarenJ:

In case that doesn’t work for you, I made an image of the page when you can view here:

Pizzeria Bianco is indeed extremely famous, and I don’t think they even take reservations. Prepare to wait several hours to get in. There are several other good places to get wood fired pizza in town – CIBO or The Parlor come to mind. And then there is NYPD – to me it is the most like the pizza in NYC to be found in AZ.

  • carollt:

Good luck to all of you going to the show in Phoenix next Friday. I hope those of you who go with Joe will also comment on Joe’s blog about your takeaway from the film, or whatever else was interesting.

  • BanditBasheert:

    hey lisabeth
I’m not going to the movie…no.

I can tell you – from what I can find out, the Ahwatukee24 is only showing the “flick” at one of their 24 theaters. The theaters are very small – maybe 100-200 ppl max. The seats are very comfy – the food is astronomically expensive. There are restaurants on both sides.

It appears there are still tickets available for all showings …

  • Kimberly:

    Fabulous Tweet!

  • Linda1961:

Looking forward to reading the reviews from everyone who sees this vanity film. I have the feeling that this film won’t be in the theaters for very long, but people will be laughing at clips of it for a long, long time.

  • KatieAnnieOakley:

    You crack me up!

  • Jaguar:

Sounds like a fun time. I just wouldn’t be able to sit through it without becoming sick to my stomach.
Please keep us updated… how many empty seats, and how many empty head, you know, stuff like that!

  • BfromC:

Joe – I’m so sorry to miss the chance to meet up with you and others who are joining you for the “film” and dinner. I’m actually visiting AZ, arrived in Phoenix/Scottsdale today, but will be in the Flagstaff area still on Friday. I hope you have a great time and I look forward to your post about the film and meetup.

Any chance Sarah might show up for the Phoenix showing? I’m not very far from the Palin Palace in Scottsdale, but hope our paths will not be crossing.

I would like to propose another gathering, in Chicago, if you schedule a book signing event in our area this fall. I’m sure my fellow Chicago area “gaters” and readers of your blog would be happy to join in such an event. And you wouldn’t have to buy us dinner. I had thought we might try to persuade Prof. Brad to come up from Kentucky for it. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, so do let us know if you schedule a Chi-town signing and I know we could pull off a nice time. Plus, we have much better pizza.

  • Star:

What a fun evening…I could handle the pizza and beer..Not $P.. Be careful..Tawd might be around with some of his AIP buddies…

  • Tewise:

I hope you have a good time Mr. McGinniss at the showing and afterwords. I believe this is going to be her excuse for not running for President. I think she is going to put all the blame on this film and how she was treated unfairly by the critics, lamestream media, etc. Just remember to be cautious and observant of your surroundings.

  • Older_Wiser:

Joe, do you think the Newscorp scandal in Britain will have repercussions here in the US on the news entities Murdoch owns? Fox News? I understand James Murdoch, his son, may already be in serious trouble under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: http://www.manipulative-people.com/understanding-psychopathy/ Wouldn’t that reach up to Rupert himself at some point, and should there be a Congressional investigation into whether or not the same, or similar, practices have occurred in the US?

  • Lisabeth:

I’m really looking forward to next Friday. I have my movie ticket. I’ll charge up the iPhone and try to twitter.
I’m not sure how to post photos to twitter but it can’t be too tough.
Usually I watch any Palin videos with the sound off so this should be interesting.
I look forward to meeting Joe and a few other like-minded Arizona residents.

Should we all dress up like Sarah???? Maybe I have a huge Star of David or cross somewhere and I’m sure I could buy a ratty bumpit wig, glasses and high heels two sizes too big!

  • Puzzle Pieces:

Here’s a hilarious ‘review’ from Vanity Fair.

    Pity-Party Porn
    by James Wolcott
    http://www.vanityfair.com/online/wolcott/2011/07/pity-party-porn.html

Now it’s true I haven’t personally “screened” The Undefeated, this R-rated indie remake of the 1969 John Wayne-Rock Hudson Western, and perhaps Sarah Palin flourishes in it, the beauty of her untamed hair mingling with the auburn-gray of battle smoke as a Star of David and a crucifix bounce between her cleavage, depending on the day the action takes place.

    ::::

Well, let her fans attend the film next week and wank away, it can’t do any harm. Unless it lifts their naive hopes that Palin might run for the presidency, which can only lead to yet more disappointment. Her political career is over, except as a kibitzer.

I’m sorry, but that’s the harsh truth. Dry your tears, dry your lap, and get on with your desperate lives.

That’s how Ronald Reagan would have wanted it.

  • Samantha:

I saw that too, although, it’s since been deleted, along with my reply and anybody else’s reply. Did you notice that? Typical Huffpo.

  • Bretta:

Dress as postpartum Sarah. It’s the same as prepartum Sarah.

  • Puzzle Pieces:

This hits the nail on the head…

“But I do object to porn coated in sanctimony, which is endemic in the very nature of Sarah Palin political prick-tease.”

  • CougInPortland:

    Snort!

  • Lisabeth:

Carrie, are you really coming just for this? If you need help/suggestions, send me a DM on twitter.

  • Lisabeth:

Lol!! Are you coming from Alaska???? Or do u live here.
If you want follow me at twitter and send a DM

  • Maddies_Mom:

Oh BfromC, wouldn’t that be hoot! I’d love to be a part of it!

  • Anon in MI:

Joe, do you think Sarah is enough of an opportunist to turn on Murdoch as a result of this phone hacking scandal? She could pretend to be a reformer again. I’m pretty sure Karl Rove would dig up all her dead bodies at that point, though.

  • Jo:

I would love to join you all for something in the Chicago area!

  • Heidi3:

Congrats again on your True Thrill award, Joe. Hope you’ve having a great time at Thrillerfest, and enjoy the awards ceremony tonight!

P.S. We really are behaving ourselves – honest.

  • everspring:

I have purchased two tickets! My husband and I would love to join you for dinner afterward (even if we have to pay for our own meal)!! Please let me know how and when we should meet up – we can meet you before the movie or after. Looking forward to a great night and to meeting you!

  • themom:

Pllease…we can only hope justice wioll prevail in this too!

  • themom:

Yes they will be friskin’ folks….so hide that cream pie you plan to toss at the screen in your hollowed out empathy belly.

  • BfromC:

Joe hasn’t replied back yet – but I hope it might be possible and I’m counting on you to join in, MM, along with KAO and anyone else in the area. I see a Jo has chimed in, too. So let’s hope it might be possible.

  • Allie:

This might seem kind of trite, but for those attending, please watch with your babygate eyes. You might spot some new evidence.

  • Ottoline:

Joe — Have you seen the Jul 18 Newsweek Cover with Palin on it? Were you interviewed for this piece? Is Tina Brown going to let us down?

And Rupert gets a smaller headline just above Palin? let’s hope when one opens the cover and reads the article, it contains not SP’s answer to “Why I Am Confident I Can Win” but the psychologists’ answers to it. The prevailing opinion answer to it. A review of the Dunn, Bailey, Scharlott works. Some tidbits from McGinniss. A good connecting of the dots with Murdoch and Watergate. Please!

(I admit it’s looking grim. Sigh.)

  • Bretta:

    I live in Anchorage.
I was a $arah Palin fan until I found out she’s not the woman she never was.
Now I rubberneck the fascination of her never-ending train wreck.
I keep hoping she’ll be held accountable, at least for Dairygate and some of her lies.

  • KatieAnnieOakley:

I would SOooooo be there. You can count on me. Hope you have a GREAT time in Flagstaff!

  • KatieAnnieOakley:

Open a Twitpic.com account now (it will link to your twitter). Play with it during this week. Once you’re in the theater, then “do whatcha wanna do” with confidence…

But you didn’t hear that from me ;~)

  • BanditBasheert:

Joe said earlier that he won’t be able to get internet until Monday….real stable internet. That’s probably why he isn’t answering ???’s today.

    Just an fyi

  • Joe:

Not yet sure I will be there. Certain complications exist. I’ll post about this as soon as I know more. But if it works, we can meet in theater lobby before or after. Might be too hot to
    stand outside to meet.

    –Joe

  • Anon in MI:

I spotted the latest issue of “Psychology Today” in a bookstore today and saw the cover story was “How to Spot a Narcissist.” It’s online at http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/201106/how-spot-narcissist

  • Ottoline:

Joe — Don’t bother to answer whether you were interviewed for the Palin article in Newsweek. I’m stunned: How can Tina Brown live with herself.

–The article says “[Palin is] producing these pithy analyses of policy issues,” — Huh?
–The belt with the prominent cross on it in Iowa has turned into “a red buckle.”
–Bannon is quoted as saying “. . . nobody knows her story. It’s hidden in broad daylight.” Well, at least he got that right, although the reality is 180 degrees off from where he says it is.

Could you please explain what’s going on?? What do you and your well-connected writer pals say?

  • Erika:

Seriously? She’s scheduled the premier for the same night as the Harry Potter movie?

    That should be…interesting…

  • KristenG:

Don’t get yer panties in a wad! I don’t believe that reference was about Sarah’s *fans*. It was about the looney-tune Palins themselves….and yes, some of us believe they are THAT evil.
