Rove says Sarah will announce presidential run on Sept. 3

Karl Rove said today that Sarah will announce her candidacy for president on the hot air balloon grounds in Indianola, Iowa, on September 3.

If she does, I’ll happily admit to being wrong in my prediction that she won’t run because she’s scared to do so.

In fact, I’ll send her a virtual hug. Sarah’s announcing her candidacy just over two weeks before THE ROGUE is published would be an even better gift than the blueberry pie she promised me last summer, but failed to deliver.

Please note: Karl Rove has often been wrong.

But he’s also often been right.

And when Karl Rove and Rachel Maddow agree, shouldn’t we all take note?

Andrew Sullivan will emerge as the most astute political prognosticator in America, because he’s never wavered in his conviction that Sarah will run. If he’s proven correct on Sept. 3, maybe more people will take note of his ongoing doubt that Trig is really Sarah’s baby.

LOL, ol Turdblossom hates Palin. He’s using Rovian tactics, making her fish or cut bait.

She’s been painted into a corner, she has to do it now and she’ll crash and burn in short order.

  • Ponds:

I’m curious. Whose baby do you all think he is? His nephew Tripp is about 9 months older, so Bristol can’t be his mom. Piper was about 8 at the time of his birth, so it couldn’t be her. Is it Willow we’re thinking might be his mother? Willow pregnant and later that same year Bristol too? Biologically possible, I suppose. But a boring theory. In fact, this whole freaking argument is boring. I wish we could drop it. There’s so much more about Palin that invites criticism, why bother to go this route?

  • Marie:

Palin believes it is her turn be president. She cannot see the reality of her running as dividing this country even more and in the end she will lose. If she runs and loses, I don’t think the celebrity status / money will pick back up for her. She has made millions since the last election on the assumption that she would run in 2012. If she runs, she loses; if she doesn’t run, she loses all support from what few ardent supporters she still has. Not really a good spot for her to be in; she loses either way. And I don’t really think that if she doesn’t run, she will be a “kingmaker” either; I don’t think many want her particular brand of support anymore.

  • wavelength:

As I read this blog and others the focus of which are Sarah Palin, my blood doesn’t seem to boil as much as it did just a few months ago. It’s the same (lack of) feeling when I knew that a relationship was over – tepid water in a bathtub.

She is still one scary woman, though; and the ones who have replaced her are more so because they can put whole sentences together on the fly. What they say in those sentences is enough to make my blood freeze.

  • Jolene:

What else can she do but run? This tease has gone on long enough–time to consummate. I never go to the C4P anymore, but would love to know what they say if she lets them down. BTW, Mr. Mcginniss, I, for one, am still avidly awaiting publication of “The Rogue.” I know what a thorough researcher you are from reading some of your other works. I hate to wish my life away, but am impatient for Sept 20th.

  • Mem:

I’ve always thought that she will run because she has to be in the lime light and her bulb went out a long time ago. She not only needs money and material “things”, she needs power and control. She feels that God called her. (Just because he called Perry and Bachmann as well doesn’t mean a thing)

  • BobC:

If she’s going to run, the several month lead-up to her running, begs the question: Who’s been the brains behind all of this? Wouldn’t most of us agree that she’s just not capable of this type long term planning? I can’t possibly imagine she or Todd would be capable of long term scheming. Short term yes, but not what this would have taken.

  • gypsyrose:

Radiation background levels in St. Louis at 178 times normal. People told to stay out of the rain. Rebel forces along with NATO launch attack on Tripoli. 7.3 quake strikes in the south pacific. Millions unemployed. Millions homeless. Schools closing. Prisons and schools being taken over by the “private sector”. Whatever IRAs there are continue to drop along with the dow. Social security and medicare at risk of being abolished. The Koch brothers trying to take over Wisconsin and then the country?

Will she or won’t she run? Will the world really be in a better place either way? Those of us who barely conceal anger, and yes, venom towards sp do so because there is so much to be done and so many in need and she eats fried butter on a stick and sucks all the media along with her. She who was “so nice” to answer questions at a fair in Iowa and then goes on FOX and spits at our President, who though not perfect, exhibits a full understanding of the ways of the world and the suffering and challenges and pain in so many lives.

Joe McGinniss, no pressure but…………………….here’s to you taking her down!!!!

I will quite happily buy you a shot of Jamesons, McCallums, or whatever is your idea of mind numbing bliss in a glass the day your book destroys her chances of even running in a marathon. I will spring for the whole bottle and send it where you wish.

“Mother, mother, there’s too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother, there’s far too many of you dying

  • Jolene:

“Also, too” I hope Palin runs so that she will once and for all be rejected by the American people, in a crushing defeat in the GOP primaries. This Quitter will never make it to the nomination. But she needs to put her name out there and see just how many crazies there really are in this country. I’m betting the crazies are far outnumbered by the rest of us, only they’re noisier and thus get more coverage from the “lamestream” media. (“lamestream media”–the one thing Sarah got right.)

  • Sue:

I really want Sarah to run. Not because Obama will beat her in a landslide if she’s the republican nominee (which will never happen). But because I believe there are people with information that are more afraid of what Palin would do to this country than of what she’d do to them personally. It wouldn’t look too good if bad luck suddenly befell everyone with inside info. However, I don’t buy that “see you Sept. 3rd” tease at the end of that non-campaign campaign video. I so hope I’m wrong.

  • Sue:

If it’s true that Sarah is not the birth mother (which I believe is more likely than not), regardless of who is, it’s much more than just something else to criticize her for. It most likely involves illegal activity that should be exposed. That’s a bit more important than her word salad or water bra.

  • Jolene:

It seems Babygate is just another crazy conspiracy theory until you read the details, see the photos. I’ve never subscribed to any kind of hoodoo crap, but this looks feasible. Crazy, but feasible. I’m willing to learn more about it. Even if Palin really is Trig’s birth mother, the “wild ride” was so reckless as to render her unfit for governing. And funny how you never see her fifth child anymore. Any updates on Trig, anybody?

  • Sue:

True. None of the people who received those surprise last-minute donations last EOQ seemed too thrilled about them.

  • Ponds:

Right here, there have been updates. Joe has boringly provided them himself, details/updates of how he’s passed around, crawls on sidewalks unsupervised, etc..

  • rm:

    Joe

    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/08/is-sarah-palin-a-presidential-candidate-or-a-narcissist/243888/

“Sarah Palin has released a new video that features moments from her recent visit to the Iowa State Fair.

Kathryn Jean Lopez at National Review thinks so: “Is there any other conclusion after watching the Iowa video?” she writes. “I think she just shared which way she is leaning.” An eagle-eyed Wall Street Journal reporter offers an alternative scenario: “Most suspect Ms. Palin will either endorse Texas Gov. Rick Perry or run herself,” says Danny Yadron. “In one scene, the former governor poses for a picture with girls in burnt orange ‘Americans for Rick Perry’ t-shirts. Make of that what you will.”

  • Ponds:

That’s what I’m wondering too – who the brains is behind this operation.

  • lazrgrl:

I agree, Wavelength. She’s toast, but those who’ve replaced her are even more frightening.

  • Samantha:

Rove is a liar and a manipulator, just like Palin. (And btw one of his other predictions is that Obama has no chance to win in 2012,… lol.)

You’ll notice that SP is becoming less and less relevant. Even one of the posters here commented: “My blood doesn’t seem to boil as much as it did a few months ago.” We feel in our bones that she’s lost power, because she has. But the truth is she never had it to begin with.

So why, at this juncture, at her weakest point, would she possibly run for President? Does that make sense? So no, she’s not running. But if I’m wrong, and she announces, people will go,…ok whatever. But who knows, maybe that’s what she was waiting for, – for that point where it’s politically irrelevant for her to run. So, if she wanted to, she could announce, join in a short time for the attention, and nobody would really care or demand much from her.

But still, I’ll believe an announcement, even a joke Trump-style one, when I see it. And honestly, I don’t think we’re going to see it.

  • Jolene:

Because the MSM accepted SP as a legitimate contender for VP, they made possible the crazed-rightwing candidacies of a secessionist governor and a Pray-away-the-gay congresswoman. Sarah Palin started it all, let’s hope the media takes more responsibility for the vetting this time around.

  • Jolene:

    I don’t think any of this is boring–otherwise I wouldn’t be here.

  • omomma:

I think he’s forcing her hand. But we’ll see, won’t we?

  • Jessica Clemons:

@Ponds, Joe didn’t say he believes or has doubts of trigs parentage, he said that “maybe more people will take note of his (Andrew Sullivan’s) ongoing doubt that Trig is really Sarah’s baby”.

Try not to read too much into it.

  • omomma:

Whoa I should have read your entire post before commenting! Your remarks about Andrew Sullivan puts the WGE right square between a rock and a hard place; damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. She reads these, so that paragraph will cause some twisty head moments.

  • sjk from the belly of the plane:

cant run. wont run. If she does, I owe a few folks a drink. And I will need a few myself. Any-who, until Fox releases her, and the standard is pretty low, she isnt running. Mere mulling is what got santorum and gingrich suspended from fox/ even fox doesnt want the FEC on their ass. Until fox suspends her, she aint runnin’.

  • omomma:

Uh. Here in St. Louis no one has been told to stay out of the rain. Turn off nutcase radio and go to the library or something, take a walk, have a cup of coffee, relax.

  • Emily:

    Joe,

Whatever Palin ends up deciding to do, it will be interesting to watch it all unfold. I see it as a lose-lose situation for Palin. If she runs, she’s going to experience the embarassment of a quick defeat. If she doesn’t run, she’s loses any credibility she has as a serious politician, even with her steadfast followers.

Can’t wait to hold The Rogue in my hands and thank you for your blog these past months. I’ve thorougly enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to more. And thanks too to your readers. So many thought provoking and informative comments. I’ve enjoyed it all.

  • Dicer:

A great way to gin up support for the Sept. 3. event. She was not getting much attention, her tweets etc were not getting the play they used to and the movie and book signings were flops. How many more other peoples’ events can she crash? This is a Tea Party event, so will she be GOP or TP and this was a group that came into being just for this event. We need to know who is pulling the strings, as Chuck Heath said she is told what to do and they do know there is a willing media.

  • gypsyrose:

This morning. Multiple websites.” Radiation levels in St.Louis 178 times the normal. Stay out of the rain.”
Had no idea it was raining in St. Louis. ( I believe the first place I saw it mentioned was on DailyKos.com)

I do read many news outlets on line. I do also watch many news programs. Unless Tom Hartman is considered a nutcase then I am safe in not being a victim of “nutcase radio”.
    Besides …….music suits me better.

Thank you. I am calm. There are though, many issues that face some of us and all of us every day. Clearing the chatter out of the news/radio/blogs/etc., about sp will hopefully make room for real solutions to real problems that need to be addressed. Call me hopelessly optimistic.

Perhaps you just wanted me to know that this a blog about sp. Point taken. Will resist urge to discuss anything else.

  • Beth deris:

Sarah is in a pickle. If she doesn’t run she’s finished and if she does run she’s finished but she’s just one down and how many more to go. Perry is just a fe-male version of Palin. I don’t like to wish anything bad on anyone but Palin does have to pay for all her coruption and hate she’s caused, she can’t just sail into the sunset maybe sail to jail but she does have to pay the price.
Waiting for your book Joe. It can’t come soon enough for me.

  • ManxMamma:

What on earth are you talking about? Your comment has nothing to do with the topic.

  • Nana:

    Rupert Murdoch and Co.

  • Deb:

And we can watch as Palin, Perry and Bachmann leave tire tracks on each other in the ‘Race to the Right’ until they hit the wall and can’t go any further.

I haven’t paid attention whether Vegas has any odds for how long it will take her to quit the campaign if she runs!!!

To Palin, Rove is like Obama. If they say yes – she says no. If they say up, she says down. May be Rove is applying reverse psychology.

If she does run – she has to resign her Fox income! Palin giving up a personal paycheck!! Makes me think NOT. When you add the matter that her ‘speaking tour’ has run off a cliff – Fox is her only income.

  • Katie Taylor:

Sarah waited too late to get into the primary and Rick and Michelle has corralled most of the wing nut vote. No poll show Sarah even registering 10% in the republican field and I think it is note worthy that she failed to garner even 1% in the goofy Iowa straw poll. She knows the polling and knows that folks have moved on as even the wing nut republicans realize that either Bachmann or Perry are a far better choice to carry their banner. I’m glad there’s 2 nuts in the race since it probably guarantees neither will win the nomination. I don’t fear Obama having to face Romney but agree that he would have an easier time of it with either Bachmann or Perry as the nominee. I don’t want to face it that America has deteriorated to the point that a religious nut could actually win the nomination of a major political party. I never thought I’d see the day that a person who didn’t believe in evolution wouldn’t be laughed off the political stage. I hope Joe’s book shines the light on Palin’s extreme religious beliefs as it will also help people focus on Bachmann and Perry in this regard. Fundamentalists of ALL stripes scare me.

  • Bretta:

You mean Tripp Palin is nine months younger.

The point is, Sarah Palin claimed him as her child when she was governor, receiving medical benefits for him, when he was not her legal child, constituting fraud.

Oh, well, it is only one of hundreds of her frauds and hoaxes on the people of America.

  • Bretta:

No way $arah Palin will announce a run for President prior to September 20th.

That’s my bet and I’m stickin’ to it.

  • g:

Even if he were not her child, if he were an adopted child, she would have the right to claim him as hers for benefits. This is silly.

  • diz:

Thank you Rover, flush that lil’ bird right out into the open. I was wishing for this on another blog this morning. Now we all have a little over a week to just accept that she’s running and treat her accordingly, pulling all the wind out of her sails come the Sept 3 announcement. Old news, ol’ gal. Then in comes MrG as the clean-up hitter two and half weeks later allowing us to concentrate on getting down to the real business of vetting and sweating the rest of their motley team. I look for Bachmann’s IRS quote to take her down and I pray Perry’s constant sermons won’t take him much further. If Jeb Bush is finally brought in to ‘save the party’, don’t ask me to be surprised.

  • g:

“Her turn?” Sorry, that was true about McCain, who tried, and tried and tried, election cycle after election cycle, and GHWBush, who truly did think it was his turn, and Bob Dole.

But Palin? I really don’t think this is motivating her – if it is she is more seriously deluded than I thought.

No, she think she’s the newest hot thing. If I dare make a comparison, I think she is comparing herself to Barack Obama, coming out of supposed “nowhere” and surging to the top. Because she sees herself as the equivalent of Obama is why she holds so much enmity for him.

  • g:

Sarah Palin has released a new video that features moments from her recent visit

Moments indeed. She barely appears on camera for more than 10 seconds edited into the stock footage. Nice work if you can get it.

  • Psalm023:

I think Karl Rove is trying to give Sarah the message that if she’s going to run, run by Sept. 3rd or quit teasing. Maybe it’s some secret code speak they all do. If the kingmaker tells a reporter that such and such candidate needs to do something by a certain date, it’s suspect that he’s providing a hint to her to git ‘er done now or face a dethroning.

  • diz:

I appreciated your perspective, well said. Does this bunch actually think they can sell the idea that a just G-d would overlook resolving the world’s actual human tragedies in order to concentrate on their divisive self-serving campaigns.

  • JR:

    Hot air grounds, appropriate.
Is Glenn Beck going to be there? That would be a SPECTACULAR way to announce a candidacy – on stage with the looniest of the batshitcrazies.
If she does announce our faithful journalists and pundits will say “she’s already been vetted”. I refuse to get my expectations up that anyone will reveal new information about any of Sarah Palins gates – from the free house to faking a pregnancy, Sarah will get away with it all.

  • Ted Powell:

“His nephew Tripp is about 9 months older…”

Assuming you meant “younger,” how do you know? Trig very likely spent significant time in an NICU prior to April 18th–if not, he was being put at serious risk by being taken to Sarah’s place of work just a couple of days after his purported birth date. How do you know Tripp was born as early as claimed? You didn’t see him then. Did anybody? It’s been said that when Bristol appeared at the Republican convention she was not as far along as claimed.

But the specific identity of Trig’s birth mother is not the key issue. The key issue is that it wasn’t Sarah.

You seem to be suggesting that if Trig’s birth mother was not Bristol or one of her sisters, then it must have been Sarah. That makes as much sense as saying if today isn’t Christmas or Easter then it must be the Fourth of July.

  • diz:

O/T but have a quick question for Joe McG. I haven’t watched nor intend to watch $P’s Alaska series but I recall that last year she was requested to remove photos of you from the finished product. Just never heard if you were successful in your quest. It makes me think of the copyright issue with “One Nation” on her bus. I’m sure she settled with the fellow who copyrighted that but am pretty sure you wouldn’t ‘settle’ and let her use pictures or videos of you after she unleashed the C4P hounds onto you and your family.

  • John Thomas:

I may hate sarah for being a hater like others do, but I won’t fault you Joe for being SMART about it.
The way you have deftly influenced the palins and baggers while thumbing your nose at them is fantastic (we all know they read every word here). Like an artist.

  • Joe:

My lawyers researched the issue thoroughly and were in touch with Sarah’s production company, and they concluded that because the TLC show blurred my face and did not use my name I had no grounds for legal action.

In fact, my lawyers privately expressed the view that far from “damaging” me, Sarah had actually done me a great favor by continuing to harp on my having been her short-term neighbor.

I know nothing about the bus tour copyright issues.

    –Joe

  • CG:

She IS running. There is no question there. Has been since July 2009. The ONLY question is whether or not she’ll formally file a declaration of candidacy.
It’s not semantics, but strategy. She’s got plenty of time to solicit donations before she’s obliged to say she’s not. If she’s filing as an independent candidate, she can’t do so until January 1. But of course, she’d need to be getting the petition signatures now, I would imagine.
Alaska Republican Presidential Nominating Process, Tuesday 7 February – Saturday 11 February 2012 (tentative date)

The statutes of the State of Alaska do not provide access to the Primary Election ballot for candidates for President and Vice President of the United States and Alaska does not conduct a Presidential Primary Election. Candidates for President and Vice President are only on Alaska’s General Election ballot. Candidates may obtain access to Alaska’s ballot in four different ways: party affiliation, registering an alternative party, filing as an independent, filing as a write-in.

Here’s how it works for an Alaska Republican candidate. I couldn’t find rules for how it works for the Alaska Independence Party and I’m not interested enough to check into Arizona’s presidential candidacy rules.
Parties send official certificate of nomination with candidates’ name to the Division of Elections for Alaska’s General Election ballot no later than the withdrawal deadline for the November General Election, the 48th day prior to the election.

    Filing as an independent candidate.
A person may also file as an independent candidate for President of the United States by filing a petition with the Director of Elections not earlier than January 1 of a Presidential election year and no later than the 90th day before a Presidential General Election.
The petition must be signed by qualified voters of the state equal in number to at least one percent of the number of voters who cast ballots in an election for President of the United States at the last Presidential General Election. The number of ballots cast for President in the 2008 Presidential Election was 327,341. Therefore, the number of qualified signatures required on the petition must be at least 3,273. The petition must state that the signers desire the named candidate for President of the United States to appear on the ballot.

  • Question:
Shortly after Sarah publicly quit as AK gov there was an announcement she’d taken a 2-year job with Fox as a commentator.

Am I remembering the ‘2 year job with FNC’ correctly? If so would that not put 03 Sept 11 just at two years after 04 July 2009 – thus ending her contract and freeing her announce a cnadidacy? She disappeared for a couple of months after the quitting fiasco under the auspices of writing her book but didn’t the publication of her book in Nov 2009 correspond with the news she was also working for Fox? And wasn’t it announced as a 2-year contract? that would put a new slant on things yes?

I’ve manitained all along that Sarah has ‘been running’ for president since the 2008 campaign – but that much of her definition of ‘running’ is in her head rather than in our reality. So whether she stands up to the actual business of running a legitimate campaign is yet to be determined.

  • Samantha:

    A plain and obvious truth.

  • LB:

It seems @CG may be bringing up some valid info. Although I only listen to bits and pieces of her interviews on FOX, a couple of weeks ago I noted she was alluding to the fact that she would need to make an announcement in Aug/Sept. In one of her most recent interviews, however, she suddenly seemed to change her tune and returned to the ‘have several months before filing’ rhetoric. This made me wonder what the legal requirements were for filing as an independent candidate. @CG has provided that clarity and it seems that, if this is her strategy, she does, in fact, have several more months. Personally, I feel this has been her plan all along b/c it allows her to continue to string her supporters along/garner yet even more $$ and utilize her PAC personally for the longest possible time and not jeopardize her FOX gig while the contract is in effect while appearing the ‘maverick’ by stating she must run as an independent because she has seen no one else who has ‘stepped up to the plate’ in the way she would. Waiting until January would also provide more time for some of the current candidates to crash and burn thereby narrowing the field. Her variables/constraints are all the negatives coming out in Sept, i.e. Joe’s book and others, movies, etc. which will paint her in a very unflattering light and expose truths she has tried very hard to hide for a very long time. She’s likely playing the odds thinking peeps will forgot about September by the time January rolls around. Maybe the germane question is not ‘will she run?’, but ‘when she runs, which party?’. Seems that Rove may be trying to force her hand by goading her to announce that info on 03 Sept. Although she can’t continue to mouth the same, tired talking points to placate her bots, my bet is that she will come up with some new spin and refuse to take his bait.

  • Samantha:

    LOL…….

“How many more other peoples’ events can she crash?”

Good point. I have never seen in the history of politics, a person make so much money and get so much attention from NOT running for anything. Really, she’s been the master of it. This has been going on how long, 3 years? How long can the media suck on that teat? Sarah has to keep stiring it up, and drag the cameras over to her, just like with the bus. Nothing has changed in my mind to warrant a conclusion that she’s somehow building a presidential campaign, in fact, just the opposite.

  • Samantha:

She gets 1 million a year, and it’s a 3 year deal. The contract is through 2013. Here is an article in the Atlantic about what the deal meant when she signed it. I quoted the portion about interpreting presidential plans:

    http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2010/01/the-implications-of-palin-s-fox-news-contract/25888/

    “Probably Means No 2012:
A multi-year deal may mean that Palin will wait to run for higher office. She could either go for the Senate or the presidency next, but either way, she’d have to start building a campaign no later than a year from now. A multiyear deal doesn’t preclude the possibility of entering into a campaign in 2011, but it indicates that Palin isn’t yet envisioning such a step.:

Notice, it said this is an indication Palin hasn’t even envisioned running in 2012. Ain’t that a kicker? The part about needing to build a campaign “no later than a year from now” would make that deadline January 2011, which has passed. This is August.

  • Samantha:

Worth repeating, what you said, that folks have “moved on.” Yes, they have. It’s irrelevant right now whether Sarah jumps in or not. She’s already passed the torch. Or the torch has passed her, not sure which.

As far as Rick and Michelle, imo it will be a 3 way for a while with Romney, then Michelle will drop out. Right wing pressure will build on Romney just like it did with the old man in the last election, and he may end up picking one of them for VP. Re-run of 2008, heh heh.

  • Jaye:

Quitty pants and Beck the Wreck are scheduled to appear at the St. Charles MO Family arena October 7th. “Defending the Republic” is the theme. I think they will find we’re not all rubes and won’t be interested in Beck’s tripe or Bobble-head’s babble. And I don’t put it past Beck and what’s her name having a game plan in place to counteract the release of Joe’s book and the other Palin book and movie.

The arena can seat 8,837 suckers, oops I meant people. I doubt there will be many takers. I wonder if Beck will have a Gold line booth set up to raise more money for his commitment to a mental health facility..

Here’s the link to the arena schedule. http://www.familyarena.com/events.php Tickets are priced 26 to 103 dollars (sorry-some function keys on my keyboard don’t work including the dollar sign). 12 person suites at 1526.22 dollars. A six dollar fee on all tickets. All ticket prices include parking. What a dill!

I hope to go barring any health issue flare ups. Hell no I will not pay to see her or that very bad actor. I will be the mean girl outside the arena…

  • carollt:

I would be interested to know if FOX declined to renew the Queen’s contract. OZMud above says he remembers the contract was only two years. If FOX chose not to renew, Sarah has to run to save face. She would not want it announced that she was losing her great gig. Sarah has recently been somewhat critical of FOX news, so perhaps they have now joined her long and growing list of ‘enemies’.

I believe that Sarah thinks she can get the votes without kowtowing to the party establishment. She plans to run with TV ads, Facebook postings, and not talking to the media. I don’t know how she will get out of the debates, but knowing our Sarah, she will find a way.

What will be interesting is how the press covers her. I think they were a little blindsided in 2008 when Sarah yelled victim at the top of her lungs everytime something less than positive was reported. I know they know that there are many of us who think the press was an absolute failure in reporting (vetting) the likes of Sarah Palin.

This is going to get interesting, especially with the book coming out on September 20, 2011.

@Nana, if it isn’t Rupert the Repulsive, then it’s the Koch brothers. Their enormous fortune has already been documented as the source of the Tea Party and multiple other ‘organizations’ that have been effective in producing the current upheaval.

If I were writing a fiction story, I would have $arah declare her candidacy for President. Then, in this fiction story, I would have someone like Shawn Christy kill her as she speaks her talking points. Then, in this fiction story, I would describe the uncontrollable outburst of violence that would be unleashed by A. $arah Palin’s dupes, B. the Koch brothers paid goons (Blackwater anyone?), and C. the reasonably normal people who will defend themselves. We might never have elections again.

$arah is the fuse on a huge firecracker.

I remain flabbergasted at the nerve of this woman. It would be difficult to believe that she isn’t aware that she is woefully ignorant with respect to the workings of business and government institutions in everyday life. She must be aware of that fact, or she wouldn’t stay away from interviews, debates, etc. where the hard questions are posed without benefit of knowing ahead of time what is being asked. Clearly, she avoids these forums for a reason.

Add to that the fact that she continuously lies, when telling the truth would be easier to do, is stunning. Even on little things..ie.. like the bs on “refudiate”.

I’ll give her this.. she figured out long ago that her glamor and her “you betcha” populism would garner a significant portion of the population, and she has been richly rewarded for it.

But to believe that you could run the country?!

I remember years past where I ran a multi billion dollar loan portfolio for a major banking institution, had my masters in place, and felt the pressure that accrues and is inherent in managing and meeting profit targets, etc., and yet at no time did I feel qualified to run this country.

And here is this Wasilla, Alaska woman that is profoundly ignorant, can’t cobble simple sentences together that make any sense, has been caught lying on numerous occasions, quit her job when the pressures increased, left her home town deeply in debt, left Alaska with a pipeline project that is considered a disaster by even the Republican party, writes notes on the palm of her hand, and is vindictive to the extreme, talks about the United States being in a “squirmish”.. and this buffoon believes she can be President?!!

    ASTONISHING.

Jolene, that’s an EXCELLENT summary of why the issue (vs the person) of Palin matters. Because the MSM didn’t do their job in examining a VP candidate, there have been serious, negative consequences, as you’ve well described. Therefore, the job (of exposing) Palin still must be done, in large part because the media must be be held accountable. It’s time for journalists — like Joe, as we’ll see on 9/20 — to recognize that it’s worth standing up to crazy backlash from the extreme right-wingers in our country.

According to Gryphen at IM $P was very quietly (zero media attention) in Kansas lately – isn’t that the headquarters of Koch Industries?

  • Jaguar:

She’s definately running. Her ego won’t let her not get the attention rush, but I doubt she’ll have much, if any, support from the GOP. I’ve never seen a bunch of weak candidates paraded in Iowa. They’re all chomping at the bit, but none of them are standing out for the right reason. Which makes me wonder why Liz Cheyney has been laying low, and why Jeb isn’t squeaking…. No worrys though, The timing of “Rogue” is going to put some fire under someone’s kettle, and I think the longer this circus continues, the better Obama will look as a candidate, especially after debating any or all of the contenders.

I remember when Pat Paulsen, the popular comedian on the Smothers Brother’s show announced his bid for the presidency in 1968. It was a hoot and a half. I had one of his bumper stickers on my car too. I would say that Sarah’s bid for the presidency would be just as hilarious too if she wasn’t so poisonous and venomous and if she didn’t have such a serious and ignorant base to give her power. I’m not afraid of her even coming close to winning, but it does have a lot to say about the state of republican party politics to see where a clown of her stature is taken seiously by so many fools and to see how cavalierly those who hold power within the GOP have used and abused their base, and are now reaping the consequences of their cynicism.
But seriously, tell me where I can get one of those ridiculous bumper stickers for my car. “The Undefeated”, what a hoot!

There is no evidence of the birth dates of either Trig or Tripp and both births were surrounded by odd circumstances. We have only the Palins’ word and that’s worthless to me. Moreover, Tripp’s birthdate seems to be the “proof” that Sarah is his birth mother. Throw in the Wild Ride and the doubt is substantial.
