The DC Motorcycle Gang Doesn’t Want Sarah: Who Will?

I’m just back from one of those effete, elite Eastern liberal dinner parties where we all sit around over white wine and brie and plot how to keep our black Muslim in the White House for four more years, and the question I was asked most often was, “Where in New England does Sarah think she can go with her bus tour where she won’t be laughed off whatever stage she takes?”

“Beats me,” was all I could say.

The organizer of the “Rolling Thunder” motorcyclist event said more, earlier today:

“She’s not invited…We’re not endorsing her…She’s definitely not speaking on our stage,”

Maybe not the kickoff Sarah was hoping for.

But can it get better in New England? Will she stop In Massachusetts, maybe Plymouth Rock, Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, or the site of the original Boston Tea Party?

Nobody knows, because the destinations of this first leg remain shrouded in secrecy. Hmm, why would that be? For fear that anti-Palin demonstrators will outnumber her faithful?

All I can tell you is that I’ll be covering one of her New England appearances next week for The Daily Beast.

Not to mention that it will make the perfect closing scene for the last chapter of THE ROGUE.

So Sarah and her gang are coming my way?

Bring ’em on!

And if she wants to know where to get the best fried clams in Massachusetts, or the best lobster in Maine, all she has to do is call me.

The best lobster in Maine is at the Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant in Boothbay Harbor. Just a personal opinion and nostalgia. I taste it in my dreams.

She wouldn’t go there though. Too family friendly. Clean and warm but too rustic unless of course she has a Fox camera crew trained on her table pretendin’ to be all rill.

What she will do is go to the swankiest digs that some old white Republican sugar daddy/sycophant can arrange in Bar Harbor and then later get a photo op sitting at a picnic table pretending to (actually eat – Sarah starves herself trying to keep herself looking younger than Bristol) actually want to get down there with those workin’ men and workin’ women with their lober trappin’. Lovin’ those shell fish. Shell fish built America. The Pilgrams came to America to get lobster in Maine. God created the world so he could have Maine and their lobsters. You get my drift.

New England can be very chilly in late spring and early summer. I hope she feels it keenly. I love New England. Friendly and no nonsense. She won’t fit in. I hope they let her know it. Rilly let her know.

  • Ratfishtim:

Ya, Joe, but you’d have to build a tall fence around the clam or lobster shack before Sarah would show up. Cuz you or other people of yer ilk might peep at Piper slurping the clam juice, or watch butter drip down Todd’s chin into Sarah’s lap? And then what would the people think?

    You betcha!

  • krbmjb05:

I expect a restraining order coming your way any day now!

  • Joe:

Never happen, after I proved myself to be such a good neighbor last summer.

But The Clam Shack might one to seek one against her.

    –Joe

  • KiteGirl:

I heard the bus driver’s name is Harold.
    Great – Harold and Fraud!

  • KiteGirl:

With apologies to Ruth & Bud, of course.

  • omomma:

Oh how I wish I had the financial resources for a tour of New England, in any season. And oh how I would love to know which version of American “history” the WGE is pursuing on her media tour of the northeast.

  • GypsyGirl:

Quick!!! We all better put up a huge fence around New England.

Gotta keep the riff-raff out ya know. Those child abusers and all that jazz.
    YouBetcha! *wink-wink*

  • Marie:

I had the opportunity to vacation in Maine several years ago. We flew into Boston drove to Vermont, stayed in a bed and breakfast, hiked up a mountain (can’t remember the name) and then off to Maine. We were there when the tall ships came in and had the wonderful experience of being out on the water when they came thru the channel. What a wonderful experience. We hiked, went kayaking on some river, stayed in hotel right on the rocky bluffs of the Atlantic. Beautiful country and the people were very friendly. Back in Boston we walked the Freedom Trail from downtown all the way to the end and then grabbed a cab to eat at Cheers. I am dating myself, but we enjoyed our trip to the Northeast so much and still talk about going back. And the lobster was outstanding!

We will all be waiting for your report!

  • Marie:

Is she traveling with her very own film crew to capture all of the highlights to be used in her campaign ads? And, of course SarahPac will be paying all of the bills.

  • Lidia17:

The “bus” is the same RV from “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”.

I’m wondering if the (taxpayer-subsidized) production costs of that reality show included the price of this little baby. Which maybe SarahPAC got to then buy “used” for ten cents on the dollar? Whaddaya think?

Anyway, the comment at the link about the gas from Alaska to DC is interesting. Is it just a coincidence that the RV wanted moving to the lower 48, now that Sarah’s moving to AZ? So she can shift that expense onto SarahPAC, too!? She is shameless, and relentless. Relentless in her shamelessness.

The Freepers (right-wingers at Free Republic forum) think this is Sarah’s fiscal conservativism on display! They think she is “thrifty”!!!

    Bwa-ha-ha!! What dolts.

  • carollt:

It does not seem like Sarah’s prayer shield is working very well. Maybe God is on a break. Maybe God went for lobster at the best place in Maine (and that would be Shaws Fish and Lobster Wharf in New Harbor, Maine).

I was happy to see that Sarah is not invited to speak at the Rolling Thunder event. If Sarah donated a substantial sum to their cause, I bet she would be allowed on stage. But Sarah doesn’t like to give her money away.

I am not sure what kind of reception Sarah will get anywhere she goes. Folks in Philly are not happy that she is coming. People in New England are never thrilled when ignorance comes to town. An article in the Boston Globe this morning quoted tea party types in New Hampshire that are not taken in by her rhetoric. They want to hear actual policies, not the platitudes that is all Mrs. Palin seems capable of.

Better study up Sarah; third graders in New England know more about this nation’s founding than you do.

  • carollt:

Have no fear omomma, according to the Sarah Pac website, the Queen is coming to every region of the United States. Get your signs ready. She’ll be coming to State near you very soon.

  • Persephone:

Joe, I live not far from you in the Northampton area. The best lobster by far is at my house: grilled or lightly steamed and served with fresh vegetables from my garden. Sarah can pop on over and have a meaningful conversation about our nation’s history with my 9 year old son, who probably has a better command of the subject than she does.

  • AFM:

Well on the whole I think my favorite region is the east coast. There is so much history that dates back. The idiot is going at a good time because it isn’t quite as hot yet. To bad she won’t come around Jul or Aug. Talk about hot, yikes.

I do hope the people will be nice to her. We don’t want her to go back to “real america” and tell them we are all a bunch of commie, liberal elitiest. Of course she forgets her own wealth. She really isn’t “real america” any more. She has become “INC.”.. She has to keep the money machine going just like serial marrier Newty Fruity does.

  • miller:

I left Maine yesterday. When my friend and I were having lunch overlooking the harbor in Oconquit on Wednesday, there was a quiet stir. A black secret service boat pulled up behind a boat. President Bush (41) then walked to his boat, boarded, and motored away. He was smiling when waving to the onlookers. There were no cheers or clapping from the masses but a quiet reserve. Sarah will not be happy if she travel to Maine. Those folks want answers and not platitudes. She will not be treatd as a rock star.

  • Mattie:

This is wierd. Ben Smith at Politico had two posts yesterday about rolling thunder and Palin and how he got an email from Palin’s people that said she was invited, but now they are not on his blog list. you can still find it if you do a google search but not if you search on Politico website. They are still on the mobile site. One was Palin invited hersel to motorcycle rally and the other was Palin had invite to bike rally.

  • CynthiaK:

Will our Junior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts come out to greet her? Just wondering…

  • mitch:

    hahahahahaha!

  • carollt:

The Sarah Pac website now promises to track where Sarah Palin has been; not where she is going (which it previously had promised). Looks like someone is afraid to post a schedule of planned stops on the East Coast.

Happy Memorial Day everyone. God Bless our veterans and a pox on anyone who tries to steal the thunder.

  • lilybart:

Sarah will want to know where the Malls are, so that would be how you could help.

  • BlueberryT:

Wow, you know the Clam Shack! Okay, Joe, if you come Ipswich — not only the best clams, but the birthplace of the American Revolution — then you MUST let me know, because I will treat you.

  • BlueberryT:

    OOps, Clam Box, duh!

  • Martha McDonald:

Yes, you definitely have your perfect closing chapter now. And it should be really interesting!!!

  • mocha:

Sounds like the only people being told where the bus stops are is the press. MSNBC and FoxNews tell of stops at Gettysburg and the Liberty Bell. I have an idea what she’s planning is to just show up at places where there will be lots of tourists anyway and video the looks of surprise by people when she hops off the bus. Think President Obama’s surprise visit to the Lincoln Memorial last month. No announcement, no schedule, he just drove up and ran up the steps to say Heh to the folks. And he was greeted like a rock star.

  • fromthediagonal:

Yep, Freesia, I think there IS a God, and maybe She told Palin to hike up New England so that Mr. McGinniss could give The Rogue a proper ending? I rather like that thought.

  • CougInPortland:

She’s no rock star. Only in her head.

  • daisydem:

Me too. This is one way to put a positive spin on her soiling my favorite part of the country. No, I don’t live there, I live in the South, it is just that my soul feels more at home on the Eastern Seaboard, go figure. Give her hell Joe, cause she deserves it …then write about it! Bwahahahahahaha!

  • daisydem:

Sarah … BRING IT ON! … Joe is ready for you. (Bless you Joe.)

  • SusanC:

Why do I have the feeling a video of this is going to end up on TLC as a follow-up eight-part series to “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”? Maybe “Sarah Palin’s America”.

  • rm:

Palin “recycles” bus from “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”, “crashes” Rolling Thunder (or did she?):

    http://politicalgates.blogspot.com/
    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QsBH3MEU9w8/TeAcvJy26HI/AAAAAAAAAW8/MpUJrC9g6-I/s1600/Palin%2Bbusses.jpg

The busses are not only identical – in fact, even the number plates are the same! It’s the same bus, without any doubt.

So what the heck does that mean? On the bus, there now is a huge sign with says:

    “Paid for by SARAHPAC”

Is everything paid by SarahPAC, including the bus? Who is the owner of the bus? Who paid for it when it was used for her reality show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska?” Did SarahPAC secretly finance parts of the reality show as well?

  • Politico article today. “Sarah Palin goes behind enemy lines.”

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/55865.html

There is a line that says: “….with her luster dimmed and her national relevance in question, she has chosen to venture into the belly of the beast.”

I AM SINCERELY HOPING THAT THE BEAST HAS A FIRE IN IT’S BELLY!

  • FEDUP!!!:

The bus is exactly the same bus with the same license plate as the one she used during her political miniseries that was supported by the Alaskan taxpayers (H/T to politicalgates!):
    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QsBH3MEU9w8/TeAcvJy26HI/AAAAAAAAAW8/MpUJrC9g6-I/s1600/Palin%2Bbusses.jpg

  • climber357:

What a wonderful idea! Life on sarah´s tour bus has just become miserable beyond belief.

  • Rene:

I am trying to make sense of this tour. A housewife from Wasilla and her unemployed husband are taking one of three underage children on a road trip in a shrink wrapped RV like a Ringley Brothers truck to visit historical sites for the first time despite almost 50 years old. Also a former half term quitter governor, former VP pick and parent has not had former interest to do this? This is something to have the media announce or make a video as if it is a good thing?

I am trying to wrap my brain around this quasi Grizzwald National Lampoon family patriotic road trip and why citizens should donate and pay for Piper to tag along to Washington or deck out an RV for this circus show. Since when is it a conservative value citizens foot the bill for family tours that leave half the family at home of multi millionaires?

Not a campaign start? Not another self promotion spectacle? Does she think we are stupid?

I hope Monty Python, National Lampoon write a blockbuster hit about a crazy family believing they are rock stars showing up at museums, battlegrounds making fools of themselves. Where do we donate for their clothing?

  • AuntieRuth:

The bus that has been photographed being prepped is the same bus as the TV bus. However, I suspect it is not the ONLY bus. I believe that a second bus has been prepped somewhere around DC and that Sarah will board it for the first time tomorrow or Monday. No way did somebody drive “The Bus” from either AK or AZ to DC. During the first book tour it was obvious that she had more than one bus and they met her in secret locations after she hopped a jet and flew to her next city, then had a stealth vehicle take her to the bus. The license plates were always kept out of sight last time.

  • Karen:

Great questions, Rene. I also would echo the posters who are wondering how the bus that has a “Paid for by Sarah PAC” sticker on it is the same bus from the “non-political,” taxpayer-funded reality TV show? Did Sarah PAC buy the bus from TLC or did they buy the bus before the show aired? If any of the footage from this family vacation/fifth-grade field trip is used for political campaign ads for SP for Prez, does the campaign have to pay back Sarah PAC? Or if this is not a campaign tour then What the Fuck is it?

  • Karen:

As Laura would say, down the rabbit hole we go… Happy Memorial Day and God Bless our veterans.

  • Ratfishtim:

Yes, the film crew will be there to do the sequel to “The Undefeated.”

It will be called “The Unrefudiated: Valley Trash.”

  • Ratfishtim:

She had herself invited by a friend of hers in Alaska who is a Palin/Parnell political appointee, a member of the state’s veterans advisory council. Being invited by an individual is not the same as being invited by an “Alaska Veterans Group.” After all, an official State of Alaska advisory board did not- and these days would not- invite Sarah Palin to anything. An individual who happens to be a member of an advisory board did.

ps Can you imagine what Palin would do if someone was trying to crash her party?

  • Lilylake:

I was in Maine a couple of years ago and loved Acadia Nat. Park, all the Rockefeller gardens, and the various coastal towns and lighthouses.

The lobster melts in your mouth there – so different from the lobster you usually get in restaurants.

I think the name of your last chapter should be “Groundhog Day” – we get up every day and Sarah is still doing the same sorts of nutty things, over and over and over again. Or, the “Last Hurrah” (hopefully).

The possibilities are endless; she gives us so much “material” to choose from.

  • Freesia:

OT, but Immoral Minority has a guest post up from the reported author of the upcoming book on “Babygate”.

He goes only by Fred. I have no idea who this is. Does anybody have any idea? (And it may be a nickname or a pseudonym.)

I do hope this is indeed a legitimate journalist, one with the clout to get his book in the headlines in a way that the press has to address the issue and hopefully eat crow, and that this isn’t just some one dimensional pass over the subject drawing no conclusions.

Forgive if I sound suspicious (I’m not really or don’t want to be) but it’s all so veiled and mysterious and at this point, watching Palin skate and skate and skate my first instinct is to either be cautious, or suspicious, or to not get my hopes up.

    Any ideas who it is?

  • g:

So she’s apparently going to Antietam and to Gettysburg on this tour.

What is she planning to do there? speak?

Does she know what happened at Antietam?

Antietam took place after the Second Battle of Bull Run – the Confederacy was full of confidence after that victory, and decided to take the war closer to DC. The south assumed Maryland would welcome the Confederates.

The fact that they were wrong about this, and that Lee and the South made some incredible tactical errors gave the victory to the Union, although, McClellan – no brilliant tactician he – nearly snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Nonetheless, it was a strong enough symbolic accomplishment that President Lincoln went forward with the Emancipation Proclamation.

So – the Confederacy over-reached, assuming it had more popular support than it did in reality. After the South’s efforts fizzled out, the President went ahead with one of the milestone policy changes of his presidency, freeing the slaves.

Antietam was also the single most bloody battle in American history, to this day. 23,000 men died, in an internal ideological struggle in our nation, in a battle that basically had little effect on the future of the nation.

Is Sarah planning to talk about that?

  • Freesia:

    Me too. 🙂

  • lilly lily:

    She should stay down south.

I’de love to hear a few New Englanders put her down.

The only thing authentic about this person, is her big ego and sense of entitlements.

Kick off for Memorial Weekend. First Lobster roll of the season.

Surely she could choke down a few morsels to show the natives she is one of them.

  • lilly lily:

Tomorrow, chili hot dogs with loads of onions,

    Nice start to the summer.

She needs to be taught a lesson in humility. God doesn’t care about her and her grandiosity. .
