The Eight Worst Ways I’ve Ever Spent Eight Minutes

For this crown, there are all too many contenders, but I’ll give you the countdown:

8: The eight minutes I spent in Richard Nixon’s suite at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York the morning after he’d been elected president in 1968, watching Billy Graham walk around in his pin-striped suit and smug grin, saying, “We did it.”

7: The eight minutes I spent on Canadian national television, in a studio in Toronto, trying to explain–with the help of Sen. Eugene McCarthy, one of the greatest guys I ever knew–why the U.S. election of 1980 was decided the moment the polls closed, and why Ronald Reagan’s win over Jimmy Carter was so overwhelming.

6: The eight minutes I spent talking to the IRS on April 23, 1996–with my jaw still numb from my root canal–after they called to tell me that my tax returns for the previous five years were being audited.

5: The eight minutes I spent watching the top of the seventh inning of the Red Sox-Yankees playoff game on Oct. 2, 1978. Does anyone remember Bucky Dent?

4: The eight minutes I spent in an LA courtroom in 1995 between the time Judge Ito called in the jury to deliver its verdict in the OJ Simpson case and the time when I first heard, “Not Guilty.”

3: The eight minutes immediately following that verdict, during which I recognized the truth of what I’d been trying to repress for the previous ten months: the American system of trial by jury is only as good as the jury selected.

2: The eight minutes after the final episode of “The Sopranos,” during which I kept asking those who watched it with me, “Wait a minute: was that the end? After all these years? That was it?”
Then I realized that like life itself, the end comes when you least expect it.

1: AND THE WINNER IS: Sarah Palin’s eight-minute stint with Greta Van Susteren on Fox tonight.

I’m sorry, I can’t even comment on this.

My job is writing books.

I’ve written THE ROGUE.

I’ll be talking about it, and about Sarah, from late September through October. I think THE ROGUE says important things about Sarah, about religious extremists (especially Christian Dominionists), about how it’s possible to create a political identity out of a total lie, about mainstream media in America today, about racism (especially Sarah’s special brand), about the difference between image and reality (a question that has interested me since THE SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT 1968,) about what loving and raising–as opposed to using–children really means, about her whole story of her pregnancy with Trig and his birth, about hate and divisiveness and the shadows of violence that hang over our land.

I also say that Rev. Howard Bess, Walt Monegan, Gary Wheeler, and John Stein are among the coolest guys I’ve ever met, so it’s not all negative.

But right now I just can’t stand the sight of Sarah’s face or the sound of her voice. I’ve seen one and heard the other too much over the past three years.

And everything she said during those eight minutes with Van Susteren tonight indicates that she will, in fact, announce her intention to run for president. Why call President Obama a “fear-monger” who is “scaring the American people” with his “bizarre…immoral…unethical” pronouncements unless you wanted to reclaim the attention that MIchelle Bachmann has stolen from you?

Sarah will run because Michelle is running.

It’s a junior high thing, played out on a national stage to the detriment of our nation.

Not to mention that God still has Sarah on hold. I imagine that for her it’s like it was for me today calling Comcast because our phone was out of order (“due to a higher than expected number of calls, our customer service representatives are busy helping other clients: please stay on the line and your call will be answered in the order it was received.”)

We’ll get service restored no later than 2 p.m. tomorrow.

I hope The Big Guy can do at least as well for Sarah.

After all, she’s got fish to catch, moose to shoot, fences to mend, movies to promote, and presidencies to run for.

Plus, Bishop Muthee is expected back in Wasilla soon to show her how to stick pins into the voodoo doll one of her acolytes sent her, telling her it was a representation of me and my trusty frisbee.

OUCH!

I have come to believe that if she does not run she will play hide and seek games and it will be hard to discredit her enough to get rid of her. The BEST way to finally give her the hook and close the curtain on that freak show is for her to run. Go for it sister!

  • Palin.Is.A.Fraud:

Joe….so many of us who are victims of Sarah Palin agree whole heartedly. We can’t stand to look at or listen to her anymore. She spews pure venom. To hear the things she says about a sitting President sickens me beyond words.

So we can all wonder how she would “Fix” this debt ceiling controversy. She would not have a CLUE.

Can’t wait for your book and the great “SMACK DOWN.”

  • Marie:

I don’t care for Greta but I loved the way she let her finish her rant and then simply said “thank you governor”. No comment, just goodbye… Otherwise, nothing new from Sarah. It is so obvious the personal hate she has for President Obama.
Sure, there are people who support her “hate” and she will get their vote, but there aren’t enough of them for her to win the White House. She will run, simply for the sake of running; it will keep her in the spotlight and then she can write another book.

  • Older_Wiser:

She can run, but she can’t win diddly squat. On 2 occasions in the last couple of days, commentators have noticed how her “movie” flopped as well as the other flopping she’s done this year and I think if that’s spread enough around the MSM, it will be recognized as fact, which it is.

She’s stale, stupid and sordid and it’s about time everyone knows it. Regardless of what she wants to believe, the presidency is not a beauty contest, and we know how that turned out for her, too.

  • Jude:

I’m so weary of Sarah Palin and her pseudo-patriot, pseudo-Christian, pseudo-family values poison. Early on, Greta gushed “She’s really smart,” but almost immediately Palin’s shocking stupidity was out in the open. Other traits also became clear–self-aggrandizement, spite, envy, greed, and the whole hokey Mama Grizzly act.

When Amazon delivers my copy of The Rogue, I expect to stay up all night reading, but I’m afraid of what you will reveal about the Dominionists behind her. You’ve given a few hints that resonate with Leah Burton’s most sinister postings.

We’re sentient creatures with free will. If there’s a Big Guy up there, we can’t blame Him for Sarah’s success or failure. For most of us, our influence is limited, but you may play a pivotal role in ending her political career.

  • SondraTompkins:

I think I’ve had not 8 but 80 Worst Ways I’ve Spent 8 Minutes. Here are the worst of my worst:
    1. When my pediatrician called with bad news about my one week old second child. “Get him in here now!”
    2. The first 8 minutes of seeing my baby on a ventilator for the first time just after I brought him to the hospital.
    3. The 8 minutes it took for the Medevac team to prep him for transport to Seattle Children’s.
    4. The first 8 minutes after watching the transplant team at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh walk away with my 22 month old son and take him to the OR for a liver transplant, not knowing if I’d ever see him again.
    5. The 8 minute phone call hours prior informing me they had a liver for my son, knowing a family on the other end would never see their child again.
    6. The 8 minutes of shock when I was told recently my 46 year old sister had Stage 4 breast cancer cells found in her liver.
    7. The 8 minutes of denial when my husband ran into our room to tell me McCain picked Sarah as his running mate,
although my gut instinct told me he would.
    8. The 8 minutes just prior to the media declaring Obama the winner of my home state of Ohio. Disaster narrowly averted.

  • Older_Wiser:

Your mention of Nixon and Graham brought back memories of the protest we held in Charlotte as Graham was being lionized: http://www.news-record.com/blog/2011/05/12/entry/nixon_joins_graham_celebration

Yes, protesters were manhandled (my sign was ripped from my hands by the SS and a guy who came to my defense was thrown to the ground), my 12 yr old son and friend got in but were recognized as protesters and thrown out, and Vietnam veterans protesters, one in a wheelchair, were refused entrance. We were peaceful but loud and thought it unseemly that a “man of God” didn’t mind all the death and destruction in Vietnam and, in fact, encouraged it in his schmoozing with presidents.

Among the people who know him the best in NC, who have been around for his career, none has any respect for him. Go up around the Montreat area and find out what people there think of him and how he never helped one person put food on the table while he was expecting their 10% tithe.

  • deennaa:

I really liked your moment of personal sharing of all those events. Its as great as “people watching”, which I have always intensely wished they had as a job position. Number 3. really resonated with me and I totally agree. Especially regarding said person of O.J. Simpson and especially regarding Casey Anthony. So many comments on that about “well, our jury system did its job and that’s it”. Like nothing else could be said. My retort (wanting the last word to overcome that argument) was “there is no justice if the jury isn’t THINKING and TAKING INTO ACCOUNT ALL KNOWN EVIDENCE BEFORE THEM. That “beyond a reasonable doubt” works BOTH ways. There were enough of those “beyond a reasonable doubts” that showed her as GUILTY. Why didn’t that cretinous and cowardly jury admit to that? For me, it all went back to them and THEIR MINDSETS – or lack of. I think they just wanted to go home and in that televised interview with their foreman, he as much as admitted to that. OH GOD! THE HORRIFIC INJUSTICE FOR THAT BABY. YES, Mr. Joe, YOU ARE RIGHT. The “trial by jury” IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE JURY SELECTED (capitalizing for emphasis not shouting, although I want to scream!)

As for your input on sarah the devil in disguise palin, I am sure you feel like so many of us do and that is FED UP and then weary of the name, the face, the family, and the voice from HELL. I don’t give her name any clicks that I see online anymore. She doesn’t deserve ANYTHING. I want to punch that stupid smug arrogant face to the ground. I can say that without reservation. I am a woman. If that were all it took to kick her ass out the door of this country, she wouldn’t amount to a period at the end of a sentence. But anyone who understands her knows that you are correct in your assessments of her trite ass stupidity and worse than stupid junior high mindset. She thinks she is smarter than everyone. She has no clue as to who or what she really is – a true psychopath added to being a true passive aggressive ranting furious racist. When you add that to her twisted yet crazed attempt at religiosity, you have a bonafide person who should be confined to a mental institution. Having a person with her scratching clawing ambition out on the loose, makes you feel like the inmates have overtaken the asylum. That’s her true UNFLATTERING affect. But they haven’t. There’s too many SANE voices unraveling her mask and opening her Pandora’s box. I know your voice will be the strongest. Thank God. (Yes I do thank the Creator I profoundly believe in. Not as the current spirit of the world believes and make-believes. Its that same principle of “trial by jury system” – mankind’s beliefs tarnish the evidences of that Creator, but it does not destroy the truth of Him). Humans read so many things erroneously and proclaim their errors as facts. Don’t you think? Yes, there I go getting off topic. But I think you can discern what I am trying to say.

You’ll really need a vacation after your book interviews and no one will deserve it more. You stay or get rested. Any thing you write will be something we all need to see. People will want more after The Rogue. I’m starting to chomp at the bit to read THE ROGUE! I said “one month” to go in one of those previous posts of mine, but it was obviously more than a month. I must have been wishful thinking AND being erroneous! You go Mr. McG! I’ll try to tone down this excitement of great expectations! I don’t think I’m going to be able to do it though.

  • Heidi3:

Aw gee, Joe – Not to make light of your significant experiences described above, but I was kind of thinking that another of your 8 minutes of hell was what happened in frigid Haines, AK back in the ’70’s. As you riotously recount in Going to Extremes, you and Duane Archer were trying to gnaw through $14.00 semi-frozen “steaks” whilst a toothless, knee-walking drunk ‘original person’, with eyes like red linoleum, pissed a bucketful within boot-soaking range of your formica table. HA! Actually, I’ll bet you chalked that up on the good side of your “Alaskan adventures” toteboard.

Thanks (I think) for the link to the Greta van Susteren clip, one of the very few I’ve forced myself to watch. There simply are very few words left to describe the abominable fraud named Sarah Palin, save the ones we anxiously await in “The Rogue”.

  • How can you say there was nothing new? I for one have never heard the word spend cast as a noun, before… nor have I ever before heard a public, seemingly political, figure flat-out call the President stupid either!

  • Brian:

    Mr McGinniss,

I don’t think that Palin runs. She doesn’t want the accountability or the scrutiny. She wouldn’t be able to handle the debates or the other actions that a candidate has to do.

You can’t run a campaign via twitter and fox news.

She is more than happy to continue to be a reality show contestant.

  • She can’t run. She’s being used to develop a fervent and fevered claque of storm troopers who will be other ways utilized.

  • I once mistook The Governor for one historical figure but I now realize I had her on the wrong end of The Night of the Long Knives.

  • Scorpie:

She can run all she wants but she would still have to win the GOP nomination. That I don’t think she can do. I also listened to that screech this morning, she really is stupid. Waiting anxiously for September 20th.

  • deennaa:

Mr. McG: Your question, ” why call president Obama a “fear monger” who is “scaring the American people” with his “bizarre…immoral…unethical” pronouncements unless you….” I think she is doing what is called “transference” in psychiatric language. She’s trying to reverse what has been put in print about her by her usual racist scapegoating and laying it upon the one she is most jealous of – President Obama. She obviously hates him the most, so transfers those very APT and PRECISE descriptions that have been printed and stated about HER onto him.

It has been decided and printed and stated (THE TRUTH) that she “scares the American people” , she is “bizarre”, “immoral”, “unethical” (BIG TIME UNETHICAL and LEGALLY DETERMINED AS COMMITTING UNETHICAL ACTS, i.e., “Alaska Fund Trust”, “Troopergate”) and she HATES that this has been uncovered about her. How else would we expect a mentally unstable(bizarre), or even otherwise, conniving person to react who has been found out? I’ve seen her do this over and over when the truth has leaked out and becomes “talked about”. She will not/never/hasn’t the capability, ever ever to receive a feedback of TRUTH about herself and hence, will never ever ever face any accountability for her gross inabilities and even grosser hypocrisy of character – a character full of big lies, little lies, all lies all day long.

She can’t stand to be told anything by anyone anywhere anytime that disagrees or exposes her. No one can say for sure what her intentions are. She doesn’t want anyone to. That suits her fine. She’s stupid enough to want to believe she is a “rogue”. She doesn’t understand the actual denigrating meaning of the word – that, in truth, a rogue is dangerous. Someone maybe clued her in and she has to deflect that real meaning away from herself now and “transfer” it onto Obama. Her beloved hated one. In her crazy mindset, that transference re-elevates her deflated self back to an imagined relevance. Denial: she is a perfect case for its devastating and dangerous results. Yes Mr. McG, she is committing a perfect act of transference while in concrete denial, harder and hotter than our earths core.

  • ManxMamma:

Bucky Dent….that hurts Joe! But we’re looking good for this year! (I live a few blocks from the venerated Fenway Park.)

  • lilybart:

I understand your frusteration with the Anthony verdict, but the mistake was the charge. The prosecution didn’t have any evidence but her strange behavior and the smell in the car. There was no physical evidence to tie her to a murder and no known cause of death. No official cause of death means you cannot convict on murder if there is no proof of a murder.

The charge could never be proved.
They should have gone for a lesser charge.
We don’;t want juries to convict on how they “feel.”
    OJ, different story.
god only knows what when on there

  • lilybart:

It’s not only the stupid, but the UGLY ANGER barely under the surface. The RAGE at the black man who took her job is palpable.

  • anAlaskanAlsoII:

That doll looks more like Indiana Jones. Let’s hope it doesn’t work on fictional characters, which is probably why Sarah Palin voodoo dolls don’t work, she’s a fake through and through.

  • anAlaskanAlsoII:

Also too, it is completely wrong to have Sarah Palin written about in the same context as an elected President, no matter how nefarious he was. Sarah’s not electable, no matter how much Billy Graham or any of those Jesus Salesman push for her.

And Eugene McCarthy? Really? The man who felt ” the relocation of inner-city blacks would solve the urban problem?” The man endorsed Reagan but called himself a democrat? Fascinating circle you run with Joe. Spice of life.

  • mudmanor:

Off topic, I spent a lot of time on the phone with my tea party congressman’s staff yesterday telling him how unseemly we find it in white rural America that the GOP will not cooperate one iota, the hell with the middle class, they just want this Black man to fail.

  • mudmanor:

    Joe,
I was delighted yesterday to hear Chris Matthews refer to your book with much excited anticipation. He also feels there is a good chance she’ll run.

  • grammy97:

Thank you for making me laugh. No, I don’t think you meant to be funny; but this is now that kind of world. Either we laugh, or we allow ourselves to be depressed; or we step over that mysterious line and pick up weapons and look for targets. The Palin soap opera just begs to be laughed at.

I honestly think that the right-wing nutjobs who groomed her and propped her simply made a horrible mistake in timing. They thought the USA was ripe for this massive deception. And they thought wrong. The bloggers, and the people who write letters to editors didn’t buy the shiny thing. Makes me think that the people behind the campaign are old enough to have discounted the power of the internet. Thanks for this blog! I’m really looking forward to that book.

  • Reality Check:

True, Grammy, but don’t forget their product also turned out to be defective, timing or no.

  • Freddy el Desfibradddor:

who do you see at the other end?

  • Reality Check:

Lily, there was a trial up in New England I read about recently where a man was charged with murdering his wife, although they never found her body. Some excellent forensics testimony, plus his strange behavior, convinced the jury to convict him. A good prosecutorial team and strong forensics work can, on occasion, make a pretty compelling case for murder; enough for some juries to convict.

The Anthony case prosecutors didn’t strike me as all that talented, but I didn’t really watch much of the trial.

  • Percy Sledge:

    The Grifter won’t run.

Besides, God will take care of Bachmann with the messianic Perry.

  • Freddy el Desfibradddor:

Deena, the psychoanalytic terminology for the phenomenon you describe is “projection.” In general, when right wingers accuse someone of something, it’s a good idea to think about how this defense mechanism might apply.

  • Freddy el Desfibradddor:

    I should have written “Deannaa”

  • Anonymous1253:

Sarah Palin is no fence mender. On a literal level, her fence mending skills are probably on a par, at best, with those used by her husband and his cronies in building the ‘Joe’ fence. (In reality I doubt she’s wielded a hammer or toted a board.)

Figuratively, Sarah Palin would have no clue what conciliatory fence mending is — much in the same literal/figuarative way that ‘building bridges’ also, too, alludes her. (Her ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ illustrating her literal bridge building ability.)

Does Sarah Palin do any of these ‘ize/ise’ words — apologize, compromise, empathize? Not so much. Unfortunately, I do know that she can self engrandize like no other !

  • Dicer:

My 8x8x8 says she cannot run. But that will not stop her from injecting herself, pretending that she is running. She has bashed the GOP establishment and thankfully many have awaken to the hate and vile she promotes. She cannot win a national election, and its open season, Mitty, Michelle and the others will not give a free pass. The defeat of the Undefeated , how she spends her PAC money, have all exposed her weaknesses and only a few will help her organize. I think she is hoping that someone will pick her to be VP and then she will strut as if she is running for President. Sarah is too lazy to do anything and she sees she can make easy money. Truth is her worst enemy, and we know she cannot handle that. “The Rogue” is mightier than the voodoo doll, it is the stake pointed at her evil heart. Be very afraid Sarah! Run, and McCain campaign staffers will open the flood gates, many are working for Mitty.

As to Billy and Franklin Graham, what disapointments. I found it very telling, right after President Obama was inaugurated, Franklin said Billy was too frail to counsel the President, yet just before he hobbled to see Bush.

  • Marie:

Sarah is angling for a late-election walk-on role, a repeat of last time: all the glory and one of the work, no time for silly details and facts, just swanning around with some fancy pageant-walking and demagoguery. Only this time she thinks she can do that with a presidential run: that someone in the filed too weak to win the nomination will add her to the TOP of the ticket, not the bottom, because her magical thinking (narcissistic distortion of reality) tells her so.

That, or she’ll just throw down with a third party bid, and let the satisfyingly chaotic revenge begin – all her enemies at once!

  • Reality Check:

Sorry, to clarify my response about the Anthony trial: “A good prosecutorial team and strong forensics work can, on occasion, make a pretty compelling case for murder *where there’s no body/definitive cause for death.*”

  • lilly lily:

Sarah Palin is one of the living dead, strumpety, acting skanky. while strutting and spouting gibberish. The token female zombi of the Republican right wing, decked out in large crosses, necklaces and belts with stars of Davids with flags tacked on all over.

She is beyond ridiculous and loathsome. She, Glenn Beck and the Norwegian nutcase should be locked up altogether in a room to rant at each other for all their born days.

  • The Texas Governor/Wyoming Snake & ’50s television redux:

    Ricky Perry and Elizabeth Cheney

    I Love Lizzie 2012!

  • Lifer:

The more someone is attacked, the stronger they become. The Palins are proof of that statement. They are a family built on a foundation of love, acceptance, good humor and love of adventure. They are a family that connect to people because they don’t try to hide flaws and appear perfect. They love unconditionally and support each other. While you all may not be jealous of them, there are people who have met them, hung out with them and wish to be lifelong friends for them for a reason. They are what family is ALL ABOUT, wishing the best for each member, supporting each other not matter what, and using tough love to encourage smarter decisions.

Can you deny ANY of this? (that was rhetorical btw) They all live near each other for a reason. It’s heard to leave something that’s so ingrained in you, something you hold deeply.

  • lee:

In the psycho’s mind President Obama took her job. During the campaign $p referred to herself as being number one on the ticket. The back stabbing idiot actually would say palin/McCain.

  • Lifer:

If she truly used her kids, she would have forced Piper to do a disney show and made Willow start modeling for Christian clothing lines. She doesn’t and won’t. Instead, she makes them earn their way through life, via job and chores, as she did with her oldest two.

She must be doing something right when her kids fervently defend her against immature talk around town, and the fact that all her kids know the value of hard work doesn’t hurt her. So a teen pregnancy happened. So? It happens to a lot of people, regardless of background.

If lucrative, million dollar offers were placed in front of you, would you STILL have fun working in a doctors office like Bristol? Would you do grunt work at a minimum wage job? Would you choose to pick fish? Yes, she sold mag spreads. Supply and demand at its finest. This family is fascinating, despite their normality.Bloggers wouldn’t let them just be in early 09. The speculation didn’t die down when they ALL left the spotlight. WHY is that? Why is it wrong to pursue offers when people are going to talk anyway? SUPPLY AND DEMAND. What’s wrong with giving your kids a better life financially. That’s every parents dreams, to improve their kids lives over what they knew as a kids. The Palins are incredibly happy and THAT much drive you crazy. Their bonds will never be broken despite anon morons tossing out stupid allegations.

  • lilly lily:

thinking of Cab Calloway’s song “Minnie the Moocher”

Some of the lyrics are.. She a had a million dollars in nickles and dimes.. She sat around counting them a million times.” Of course Minnie ends up in the county jail, and the guy she sent to buy her way out abscounds with the money.

I don’t think truly Palin realizes the intensity of the aversion she arouses. Pure disgust.

Obama has his detracters, mostly based on his being an African American.

But Palins arouses disgust all for her very own self, her personality, her stupidity , her avariciousness, her hubris, her obnoxious behavior.

  • Lifer:

Oh Lilly, if you really think MOST of Obama’s detractors are racist, you have got to do some research. There are a TON of people who see the legislation he’s desperately tried to pass as what it is, legislation that will continue to destroy the econ due to cost, therefore allowing him in IN to revamp the country to suit his and the DEMS goals and needs. That is pretty evident. We cannot afford new projects worth billions. Any semi intelligent man knows that.

What’s also clear: Obama and Palin rose to power in EXACTLY the same way. The media dropped the ball. Both parties counted on gender and race to HELP them. The fault lies within both parties and with the media failing to accurately report on the inadequacy of both Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. Both are relatively good people I believe who only wish the best for those who work to achieve their best.

  • mudmanor:

Well maybe if she’d concentrated a bit less on making $$ and a bit more on making sure her kids got an education, they wouldn’t have to write such drivel full of telltale spelling and grammatical errors.

  • KatieAnnieOakley:

Oh, Sondra – you get it. You really do “get it”. I don’t want or need to list my eight – they’re as bad as yours. Don’t you wonder sometimes WHY? Then, you look at your children’s faces, and yours in the mirror and KNOW WHY.

  • Thank you for visiting, Lifer.. Your posts are a joy to behold. Seriously, I’m speaking sincerely here.

  • aussiegal77:

But what is new about that, even? Palin mangling the English language? Par for the course. If she spoke a coherent sentence, we’d all have whiplash from the double take. Palin calling President Obama rude names? It’d be a cold day in hell before she will give President Obama any credit for anything. If she chipped a nail – it’d be President Obama’s fault!

    Hahaha, she is utterly ridiculous.

  • Lifer:

In a way, this has never really been about Sarah. She’s always been just a mom with a pretty face who was a great asset to people who desired power. She’s always looked happiest in pics of her engaging in normal, family activities. Shes always sounded happiest when speaking about normal, family happenings. Even in the emails, she never failed to sound thrilled on mention of kids. The more bigtimers who caught wind her her growing AK prominence, the more she realized she could have a better life and her kids could as well.

When people say, it’s her handlers etc who should be worried about her “downfall” they are correct. Sarah has nothing to lose. She will always have what she loves – AK and family. Her handlers will eventually be caught in their own coverups and fraud and lies. That’s how it always is when your subject is just a pretty face.

I don’t know who is currently behind her but even her past handlers MUST be quaking (and not just from the Murdoch drama) . They were initially lucky to have found such an average lady with a large, normal family, who showed such natural ability and compassion.

After this, can we please go after Chicago politics and the dems. THERE’S a story, one that already TRIED to come out.

  • KatieAnnieOakley:

Palin rose to power via her powers to incite, entice and exploit. Women who admire her want to be like her, and the men who admire her wonder how she’d be in bed; hence the heels, short skirts and leathers. She’s a tart. The rest of us can see what she’s doing to whom, and compare her actions and words to her deeds and history.

  • Thank you for your sincerely honest and oh-so-even-handed appraisals and insight, friend.

  • Yeah. When is she ever going to mention or be seen again with little Trig, by the way? You’re an insider, do tell.

  • Ottoline:

    🙂

  • Ottoline:

Geez, I meant to type the rather more subdued : – ) , to agree with your “. . . save the ones we anxiously await in ROGUE.” That yellow smileyface (that came up automaticaly! ) is way beyond my ability to own. Sorry Heidi3.

  • SaltAire:

    ah..yes…little Trig.
He’s not so little now and Sarah is most likely a stranger to him (and that’s a GOOD thing).
Hopefully, he is being loved, cared for and getting the therapy he needs.

  • Joe – keep safe.

The readers and those who comment here may not be down on their knees, but we ARE solidly behind you (most of us anyway), and so in a way we are YOUR ‘prayer warriors.’ You are in position to really shine a big bright light on this woman and the dark forces behind her. You bring to focus the intelligent awareness needed to reveal the provable facts to a larger audience. So do keep safe. What you bring is vital. So, more than just THANKS.

  • Ottoline:

Lifer — you might be the perfect person to explain the Mar 14 photo on this link. How is it possible? Is it not PROOF of her baby hoax?

I know, I know — you won’t even touch this issue.

  • Funny thing, that. Old John would have never seen Inauguration Day.

  • lilly lily:

Sarah Palin is not stronger politically, she is weaker, and superfluous to the Republicans, an embarrassment in her stupidity and vacuous twitters and facebook. Her only purpose is to get as much money as she can while she can, and to attack President Obama who has the job she wanted.

I and many others think John McCain would have been dead a few months after the election. He should be happy he lost because of her.

If she and her family are genuinely happy, who cares a whit. Why keep telling us, we don’t give a hoot one way or the other.

    That isn’t my concern.

They can and will screw up royally without any help from little ole me.

Minnie temps a religious man in the long jazz song ” Minnie the moocher”, uses sex to sell whatever it is she was selling, becomes rich, temps religious men, teases men who develope blue balls and ring the gong (masturbate, use drugs, is arrested and goes to jail then is abandoned by her lover, and in the end is committed to a insane asylum to finish out her days.

LOL. If it fits, wear it.

Quite a famous song. In the hall of fame.

  • Ottoline:

Yes, Joe — Keep safe. And I have come to think you are better off as a Trignostic as your book is launched. Better to see how it goes re media coverage. I would hate to see you raise the Babygate issue only to see all your media appointments dry up. Better to have your book and the reaction to it firmly in place before you go further. This is a 180 for me. Your book’s success — wide readership — is very important, Step One.

  • Sir Guestalot:

Sarah Palin has no power. False Equivalency #9999

  • lilly lily:

I am fascinated by the constant re-iteration of Palin bots that Sarah Palin and her family are deleriously happy.

It makes no sense at all to come here and blather on and on about the sheer joy and family fun and games going on in Wasilla. Also that she kept out of the press at any point in her journey from the announcement of McCains picking her to this date. It has been “LOOK AT ME” from that day to this.

Now her bots are trying to make the “Undefeated” a box office bonanza when it is a total flop. The majority of Americans think Sarah Palin is a fool and unelectable. Why pay to see a rotten movie.

Now I saw a truly great movie last nite.

    I’m still thinking about it.

A French film called “The Class.”

I don’t sit through many movies, and often walk out, so I pay to see few movies.. God knows even if they PAID me I wouldn’t watch” the Undefeated” Just as I can barely stand looking at her funny faces on Greta or Hannity, and turn on the mute button for the fast forwarding I do through any of her appearances. She is awful.

I was sorry when “the Class “ended. Really worth watching. Though there is a homely Moroccan Arab girl student who rivals Palin in attitude and obnoxiousness and victimhood. She is so very self satisfied, smug, ignorant and pushy. I could see her going into politics, though much too ugly to suceed other than on manipulation and moxy.

  • DIcer:

    Get a life…..you need one.

  • Lisabeth:

You are hysterical. Thank you for the laugh. There is no other way to respond to your comments because you clearly don’t deal with facts, so there is no point in anyone wasting energy on pointing out the factual reasons your comments are incorrect ( and perhaps delusional but I don’t like to offend people). Good luck to you.

  • Lifer:

What I can also say is, the Palins have spent a good amount of time chillin out in their backyard, by the water, this summer. If you remember, an intruder made them uncomfortable last summer. It’s sad when they didn’t feel comfortable boating and playing on their own property without fear that someone is going to manipulate words and situations to feed an agenda.

  • Deb:

Is there a possibility that Sarah realizes the Presidency would take heavy lifting on her part and being the VP candidate again might bring her the best gig. She had her uncle tell Rick Perry to announce his candidacy recently. Could she be courting a Perry/Palin 2012 ticket. Pee Pee!!

  • Sir Guestalot:

Good to know she’s not busy planning a campaign. Thanks again, Lifer, for your inside scoops on the family.

  • OneMorePoint:

    What about Scott Pederson?

They never had any proof as to her cause of death. It was his strange behavior, lying about his affair, and the fact that the house had been cleaned. It is possible that another killer could have dumped her body in the bay after it was announced that that was where he had been that day (not saying I believe that, just that it is some kind of reasonable doubt on that).

  • Lisabeth:

Sarah never looks or sounds happy. She simply doesn’t. I’ve never seen a more hostile, jealous and vindictive human being. I could give you many examples but you prefer to come here and call people names instead of dealing with facts.
One thing you are very mistaken about is no one is jealous of Sarah or anyone in her family. When you and her other fans say that, you lose all credibility because it’s so ridiculous it’s funny. What is interesting to me is how the fan club hurts Sarah politically by the way they approach people who do not like her politics or her inappropriate behavior. You will never learn and her cult just helps Sarahs poll numbers sink lower and lower. If you wanted to help her you would present facts based on evidence, try to listen to why people don’t like her, and objectively explain why you don’t agree. But none of you do that and I’m sure I’m wasting my breath. There are valid reasons that millions of Americans literally can’t stand Sarah and none of them are from things you think the media said nor jealousy.
    Think. Try it.

  • OneMorePoint:

I hope its nice for you in your alternate reality.

Families who raise children that cannot make a life for themselves independently are dysfunctional. Neither of her “grown” children seem capable of getting a real education or working towards something of their own that does not have strings attached to Sarah. It is sad.

I’m sure hanging out with the Kardashians for a day might be fun too, much like spending a day at the circus. But I’d have to kill myself if I were really stuck in a family like that with no escape.

  • Lisabeth:

Where is Trig?? So yes blame the handlers and not Sarah! That sure makes sense at least to you.
Your comparisons to President Obama are simply not true. You are comparing rotten apples with beautiful red organic ones. Do you understand that? No obviously you don’t. I feel somewhat sorry for you that you are blinded by irrational emotions rather than dealing with real facts. Nothing any of us say could educate you because you have firm rigid beliefs about Sarah and her family. The problem is the foundation for these beliefs is false. Best of luck to you.
And yes we all would love to know about Trig and the therapies, education and treatment he is getting. I worked with DS children and moms everywhere are disappointed by Sarahs apparent complete lack of interest in the huge needs of DD children and their families.

  • OneMorePoint:

Her rants on Fox to Greta and Hannity aren’t being covered by the rest of the media much anymore. It is boring. Same old same old. No mention of her latest diatribe against Obama. She’ll have to come up with another gimmick to get attention. The only problem is that each one of these gimmicks causes more loss of credibility for her. It’s tough being a political media whore,

  • lilly lily:

LOL. So last summer they didn’t feel comfortable on their own property, even with that fence?

she wasn’t there most of the time. How could she be in two places at one time.

This year, no one wants her , so she can chill out.

Wasn’t she was going to tour the country with her family in the big” One Nation” bus tour to teach all us ignorant Americans all about things she herself knows absolutly nothing about. Proof in the pudding. After touring Boston, and Paul Revers haunts and digs, she came up with that idiotic take on his famous ride” ringing those bells and warning the British.’

  • jk:

You mean Sarah can finally put on her tank top and strap Trig on her back and mow the lawn without fear? And Todd doesn’t have to call up his “buddies” to do a crappy job extending that ugly fence into the sky (until it blows down with the first stiff breeze)?

With all the comments you’ve made on this and other blogs, under your various aliases, you appear to be the one the Palins should fear. You seem to take a lot of interest in and know a lot about the going ons and whereabouts of the clan (including the little ones). Stalker often = “biggest fan.”

  • Joe:

    Lifer:

An “intruder?” Would you by any chance be referring to me? Because I was not an “intruder” last summer, I was a neighbor. There were intrusions, yes, but it was the Palins who intruded on my privacy: first, when Todd came into my yard to ask me what I was doing there; second, when they surreptitiously took a picture of me talking on the cell phone on my porch; third, when their TLC cameras secretly filmed me sitting on my porch, reading a book. You are, of course, free to express your opinions here, but please don’t make deliberate misstatements of fact.

    –Joe

  • Lisabeth:

Joe, I’m looking forward to your book and found your description of your worst eight minute times quite interesting. I have been thinking of my own “worst times” and it brought up some memories I’d rather forget. I cant listen to Sarah anymore. I simply can’t stand the venom she spews and her comments never help a difficult situation. She is so negative and deranged in her comments in my opinion.
I wanted to apologize a bit for even taking up space here trying to talk to a member of her fan club. There is no point of it. Lifer was not as rude as many of them are but her false comments about President Obama really bothered me.
I know you can’t tell too much about your book but I wonder if you talk at all about the lemmings who follow her and the way they are literally abusive and threatening to many who disagree with her. I am interested in the psychology of this because I have never seen anything like it! If you can’t say, I understand!!

  • jk:

If there’s one thing we know about Sarah, she loves her privacy…except when she’s calling up the press to cover family vacation, selling pictures of herself and her children to the tabloids, “writing” an “auto”biography, or doing a reality tee vee show about herself with her kids in her home.

If only people would get out of her business and leave her and her family alone.

    /sarcasm

  • jk:

I imagine if Joe checked IP addresses, he’d find that “Lifer” is the same person who wrote all those other “Up with Sarah” comments.

    Perchance is she from Brooklyn?

  • Millie:

Palins are a happy family and spent the summer ‘together’ in their backyard? Come on!!! Todd Palin who hired at least one prostitue that we know of – Sarah has had two affairs that we know of (one w/a friend of Todd’s!!) – children w/varied problems and troubles – and on and on. This is an example of a happy family? I don’t think so!

  • mudmanor:

And don’t forget that adorable special needs child who was put on display for the press at birth and again 3 days later, despite a severely compromised immune system. Then hauled out in his diaper a 11 PM to hang on her arm again as a prop. And now is almost never with his mother, or grand parents. Does not wear the glasses and hearing aids he requires. Perhaps lifer knows if he is being mainstreamed in pre school and, as one desperately hopes getting some of the many special programs he requires.
    Happy family indeed.

  • Montrealer:

Oh oh, were you spying on the Palin family chilling out in their backyard by the water, Lifer? How creepy!

Why do all your Pollyanna posts sound the same no matter on what site you comment? You keep repeating yourself, ad nauesum. Perhaps it’s time to get some new material or else pass the mantle to some other Palin boot licker. Your act is getting stale.

  • FrostyAK:

May The Rogue be the final pin in the $P political/media whore voodoo doll!

Hopefully it will make America aware of the real threat Dominionism plays in our politics. No one I have talked to has ever HEARD of Dominionism, and they brush it off as fantasy. They don’t get the connection between the Grahams and other of their ilk influencing, if not directing our politics.

  • SaltAire:

The most recent picture I saw of Trig and Trip together revealed that Trig was not wearing glasses.
His eyes were severely crossed. In fact, the condition seems to have worsened.
I wouldn’t expect to see Trig with Sarah in the future. I believe his dislike of her would be apparent and embarrassing for her.
He’s too big now to be “doped-upped” and sleeping on Benadryl in order to be manageable around her.
I wonder if he can speak, since it’s suspected he is also hearing impaired. I remember reading that Trig and Tripp were communicating with sign language.
I don’t think she ever even liked him and that he has always been an embarrassment for her. He was useful at one time as a $$$ making prop, but those days are over.
She should be investigated for child abuse.

  • lilly lily:

I saw something on Huffington about the 14 things no one wants to see ever again or hear for that matter. One on the list was God telling any politician that he wants them to run for POTUS.

So far.. Bush, he got in because God wanted it. LOL.

Palin, Bachman and Perry will be the last politicians to pull that particular rabbit out of the hat.

It is getting to be a pretty stale routine.

It’s really more the “Devil made me do it” with that trio of political hacks..

  • Susan:

New day, same old talking points and false equvalencies.

Bring some facts to support your suppositions…..you won’t be back, because the facts do not support the claims you insist on repeatedly making.

If you admire Palin for her family values and parenting expertise, encourage her to use those skills you seem to value in her to other ends.
Personally I do not recognize what you value in her, in fact I see something distinctly different and not something I consider worthy of emulating. She is not suitable for leadership of this vast and diverse country. She is too intolerant, narrow minded, and self serving to provide what is demanded from the position she has deluded herself into thinking she is qualified for. Additionally her religion is a private matter, and if injected into her governance, violates our civil liberties and freedoms. American’s choose for themselves if they wish to seek the service of witch doctors, and their own reimagined versions of Christianity. I believe most Americans would reject her brand of religion, yet it is hers to hold, personally.

You have the right to support her. If you wished to persuade us from our own contrary positions, bring some facts and present them.
Until then you are wasting our time and energy, but you certainly are providing us with a few good laughs, and definitely some head scratching.

When you see what you believe, the truth is often impossible to find.

  • lilly lily:

Sorry tempts, not temps.. Sarah tempts her bots with the lure that she will run, and more and more are withholing their dollars till she stops playing her stupid games. They will only send their money if she declares and begins to campaign.

Her bizarre Dance of the Seven Veils is idiotic at her stage in life. She wants President Obamas head on a platter all right, but mostly wants her pockets lined with sheckles while she is playing this nonsensical “will she or won’t she “routine.

  • James Jeffrey Paul:

As a libertarian-minded Republican, what I find most alarming about Sarah Palin is that (as here) she says things that sound perfectly reasonable, but offers no concrete ways in which to implement them.

And if she were in charge, she’d make things worse. She’s NOT a fiscal conservative–she instituted that ridiculous “free money for every Alaskan” program and made astounding financial blunders for which the harassed taxpayers of Alaska are still paying for.

When are libertarians and Republicans going to realize that she’s NOT “one of us”?

  • Susan:

A neighbor made them uncomfortable? That can only happen if they allow themselves to feel that way, or perhaps felt they had things they needed to hide.

Where do you live? Do you have neighbors? Do people make you uncomfortable without reason? Your insinuation is paranoid and baseless. The Palin’s could have secured their desire for seclusion by purchasing the vacant home…they had the means. They don’t have the right nor should they feel entitled to make demands of either the property owner or the renter. Their discomfort was of their own creation, whether baseless or otherwise.

I thought Christians were to love their neighbors as themselves.

  • Susan:

So what makes an average Mom with a pretty face a viable candidate for the office of the President? That is a bridge too far for me.
You realize there are milions of us that could be defined similarily…..which attribute is it that seals the deal….Mom, average, pretty?

Also, please let me know one thing, something that Sarah Palin has taken responsibility for. As a human, certainly she has made some mistakes. In her position of Governor surely she made some less than optimal decisions? As an individual who values responsibility, I would say one of the most disturbing aspects about Sarah Palin to me, is her refusal to be accountable, her refusal to admit mistakes and demonstrate an ability to learn and grow from them, and more sadly, her perpetual relationship with victimhood. Absolutely disqualifies her, IMO, from a position of leadership in a free society. She probably would make a dandy queen….off with their heads, or throw ’em under the bus, I’m certain would be her mantra.

  • Scorpie:

Yes, I caught that little tidbit as I was watching MSNBC yesterday. Give a loud YEA!!!

  • Jolene:

Palin’s keynoting the Iowa Teaparty rally Sept. 3rd, which has her bots in a frenzy of mouth-foaming excitement. This, of course, means she’s going to announce her candidacy–that is, if she actually shows up for the rally. According to her former syncophant, Frank Bailey, Palin is notorious for cancelling her appearance at events like these with very little notice. She sure likes to wing it! Shows what a ‘warrior’ she is. I’m looking forward to reading “The Rogue” and perhaps the babygate book Gryphen mentions on IM, and after that I truly hope Sarah Palin will fade away into a well-deserved obscurity.

  • Susan:

Although she often changes her ‘name’, she leaves telling ‘fingerprints’ wherever he/she injects her thoughts. She/he idolizes Mrs. Palin, which if she is a Christian she needs to work a little harder on his/her Ten Commandments. Idol worship is not really smiled upon. counsel

  • Reality Check:

That family had more than enough money to put Bristol through college. Please, these weren’t some poor broke people before she got famous. They lived in a semi-mansion on a lake, had two other vacation properties and loads of expensive toys. Oh, and a private plane. Granted, it’s puzzling to me too how they afforded all that before they were rich, but somehow, they were living the life of the rich well before she became famous.

  • Lisabeth:

I want to say most of them do, but the polls say the majority of Republicans (not independents) support her. I’m glad to hear that you recognize it and I hope you post this many places. She has NEVER been a fiscal conservative. Look up her dismal record in Wasilla. She left this tiny town in considerable debt. I don’t know the numbers but others do. Sarah is for Sarah, people need to realize that. Her cult fans never will.

  • BlueberryT:

    (((♥)))

  • Moles:

    Where have you been?

  • BlueberryT:

Totally O/T: ManxMamma, I didn’t know you were a Bostonian — we should meet sometime! My best Fenway story was when I was staying at a friend’s place a few blocks from Fenway, and it was a summer night with the windows open. We heard a strange sound — it started as a low rumble, then grew to a huge roar. Yaz had just hit a grand slam!

  • Melly:

You telling me that shrew bitch devil who just chatted with Greta is a happy person?

The whole Joe business last summer is emblematic of the wrong choices your “fucking psychopath” of an idol makes. When Sarah had a chance to mend fences with Joe and speak kindly and reasonably to him, she chose to further alienate him by building a fence and trying to demonize him. She gave full power to a writer of stature, a big mistake, and now he gets to take her down so hard her her wonky eye will spin and her wig will fly. Just think of what Joe would be publishing today had she befriended him and given him her view of things.

When she had a chance to become VP, and when she had the political world at her feet after 2008, she chose to be an asshole and a liar and quitter instead of taking the time to think, listen and learn. She chose to disrespect ideas and individuals. When Sarah’s knocked up daughter had a chance to accept and be grateful for the country’s sympathy, she encouraged her to become venomous, vain, resentful, and self-serving, her mother’s maxi-me. It’s all brought Sarah ever higher levels of “unfavorability.” Never since 2008 has her popularity trended upward. She’s a big loser. You should unhitch your wagon from her and look for idols who at least make good choices, even if they aren’t “pretty”. To me, Sarah Palin is one ugly, diseased-looking bitch of a human being.

  • SofyaDeb:

I can see it now. The Republicans nominate Mitt and Sarah runs lukewarmly, I mean mavericky, as a Tea Party candidate. Takes anywhere from 5-10% from Romney and blows the Republican party out of the water.

  • physicsmom:

Hey, I loved Gene McCarthy. I wasn’t even 18 yet and I worked on his campaign. I was so sad when he dropped out of the race. McGovern was a good guy, but Gene was really smart (though really smart people sometimes have bad ideas -ex. Barack Obama on rendition). You take the good with the bad when the person’s character is basically good. The opposite is true of $P however, by a long shot.

  • lee:

    Well said Melly.

  • I am amazed at how ridiculous you are allowing yourself to sound, even anonymously. Intelligent, accomplished people do not say the things she said to incite hate during the McCain campaign. No one will ever forget that.

  • Hysterical! Liar.

  • Carol Anne Wolfe:

I am actually one of those folks, a life long AK who has been watching the ascent of Palin with wonder and horror. How the hell can anyone take her seriously. I attended the debates when she was running for governor. She was not a serious candidate. She is ill prepared and ignorant of the issues. She depends on people with similar religious values to vote for her. she was elected the governor of my great state, which tells me–she was able to put up a convincing facade that people bought into. we have to be double down on our efforts to get the word out about this woman whom I feel is absolutely a danger to the security of our nation.

I am not sure about whether I want her to run for president–part of me would like her to–the voyeuristic
part of me would like her to. I am scared of her however as she is unusually resilient and she may have some success on the national stage. The fact that people still ask for her dimwitted opinion amazes me.
I am looking forward to you book, Joe. I appreciate the facct that your persevered and completed your research and I am sure that you have valuable information to add to the debate.

  • carollt:

I agree that Sarah will run. And since she cannot give an interview without screwing up, she will not be giving any interviews save for FOX and her pals Greta and Hannity. Sarah cannot even withstand a Bill O’Reilly interview since Bill decided to ask her an actual question and kept repeating it until she gave an answer (during the BP spill – she hasn’t been back).

Too bad for Sarah. “Rill Americans” have already moved on and are awaiting Rick Perry to enter the race. Actual people are not going to or buying her propaganda film and actual people will be voting for someone other than the Queen.

I once saw a path where Sarah could win the nomination; I no longer she that path. It is highly doubtful that she could win any state primary, let alone the nomination.

  • SaltAire:

Bravo! Nicely wrapped up and I can feel your passion.
    (applauding here)

  • Ottoline:

“Manipulate words and situations to fit an agenda”?? — You must be talking about faking a pregnancy! Joe McGinniss never did that, but here’s someone who did:

    http://s406.photobucket.com/albums/pp141/WestCorrespondent/Sarah%20Palin/?action=view&current=5weekstobaby.jpg

(I guess you’re not going to try to explain how the Mar 14 photo could possibly exist? Naaah. Too hard.)

  • lilly lily:

I rarely think of this woman anymore, so I am comfortable that the American public has rejected her as a possible candidate.

Oh I do come here to vent, though not everyday, but I know she is burnt offerings for the Republicans.

Sarah Palin had her day in the sun, much more than her 15 minutes, and more than she ever deserved. She can now ruminate on how she blew it big time.

Of course being the Victim Queen she will blame everyone else. But she deserves her crown for being a liar and a trouble stirring bitch.

She might declare after everyone else has debated and stated their positions, and she will lose. If nominated at the convention she will lose big time, and the Republicans will have lost any credability they still possess.

Had a great time watching all Cab Calloways moves on Minnie the Moocher. My word, Michael Jackson had nothing on Cab Calloway. I recommend his earliest. Smooooooooth mover.

  • MO Inkslinger:

Sarah always held Trig faced away so she didn’t have to look at his face. I agree, she doesn’t care much for that child or several of her other children. She shows little in maternal love for the children and less love for her husband.

  • lilly lily:

I see no point in any sane reporter giving her any more space in the media’

A whole month between now and the tea Party meeting. So let it rest. She either will or she won’t. Lets have the rest of the summer to read some silly beach books, see a few flicks in a cool theater and drink our iced teas without SARAH PALIN Media WHORE being shoved down our throats.

Who truly has to pay attention to her whacko pronoucements.

    She is a WHACKO.

Even Mc Cain is saying “Enough already.”

  • KarenJ:

Now that I’ve read your synopsis of what your book will say about Sarah Palin, Joe, namely:

“…THE ROGUE says important things about Sarah, about religious extremists (especially Christian Dominionists), about how it’s possible to create a political identity out of a total lie, about mainstream media in America today, about racism (especially Sarah’s special brand), about the difference between image and reality (a question that has interested me since THE SELLING OF THE PRESIDENT 1968,) about what loving and raising–as opposed to using–children really means, about her whole story of her pregnancy with Trig and his birth, about hate and divisiveness and the shadows of violence that hang over our land….”

I’m afraid it will receive about as much attention from the media and the general population as the average industry whistle blower’s revelations do, or Frank Schaeffer’s books and Leah Burton’s books have — in other words, barely a ripple.

I’m afraid your reputation will be marginalized, and there will be yet another campaign to portray poor Sarah Palin as the victim once again of someone who’s getting even with her. Obviously it’s the complete opposite, but from what we’ve all found out over the past 3 years and from those other 2 books (Bailey’s, and Dunn’s), when has that ever kept Sarah Pain and her minions from using every tool in the victim toolbox? Remember, she doesn’t believe in “an eye for an eye”, it’s “TWO eyes for an eye”.

I sincerely hope you have a barrage of press releases ready to pre-empt Palin’s “The Rogue” propaganda attacks. The first one should outline exactly how she will use that victim tactic, and how she will use you as a foil in her upcoming speeches. And she won’t be alone, if the tales Frank Bailey told about Ivy Frye, Kristin Cole, etc. are accurate. In other words, I don’t think she’s going to cower in Wasilla nervously awaiting September 20th.

  • KarenJ:

In other words, she may be functionally stupid, but on her usual animalistic level, she’s a cunning bitch.

  • SaltAire:

I agree, she will make out like the poor victim again. Heck, she immediately had Toad and her thugs attack Joe when he moved next door.
Expect her to make MORE accusations implying he is some kind of sexual pervert. That’s how she “rolls”. Everything is sexual with her. Her critics are labeled as “limp”, “impotent”, “rapists” and “predators”.
She is one sick, twisted psychopath with some serious sexual “issues”.
On the positive side, Joe hints that there is extreme interest from the media for interviews. He is booked into October already.
Chris Matthews on Hardball is already mentioning “The Rogue”.
I’m very hopeful (actually convinced) Joe’s book will get a lot more play and attention than the other books about her have gotten.
Joe, can you reveal who your first interview will be with and when?

  • Reality Check:

It’s actually not the Iowa Tea Party…it’s some PAC called “The American Tea Party” and it shows all the familiar signs of a hastily put together front group to fund a Sarah Palin event. Just launched in May, website is solely devoted to an announcement of the event, etc.

I expect this will be another overpublicized, under-attended event. I also expect we will never hear from this group again afterward.

  • Joe:

As of now, the first interview is set for September 19. I can’t say any more than that.
I do expect to chat with Chris Mathews, among others, before the end of September.

    –Joe

  • ManxMamma:

    Great memory!

  • lilly lily:

So it is her backers usual shell game.

A big fat zero which she tries to puff up into something more than it is.

Should be noted by those of you who follow the blogs more than I do.

Of course Brietbart, or whatever his name is drools all over himself at the very thought of this one. May he gag on his drool before this is over.

  • I don’t agree with you. Joe McGinness has long ago paid his dues as an accomplished writer. This book will be taken very seriously and in the climate of Sarah Palin’s big fall, (or fail), I think it will get even more attention. Everyone loves to watch a train wreck and all the extra details. I know this book will be deeply detailed and wonderfully entertaining.

  • Deb:

No. 7 sounds like your first attempted escape to Canada!! Not a bad place to be!!
